how well our defense is is rather dependent on who we are playing. tonight was a pretty good match up.
we need to be an offensive team, plays fast, pushes the ball, spread the court.

Play D like we did in the first half tonight, and I will take our chances against anybody. I thought it was very impressive.
Our guys need to realize they need to sustain that effort for 40 minutes though.
Ole Miss mostly laid down and took their beating this evening. Better teams won't -- especially not for games on their home courts.

Tonight was the best this Defense has looked all year. If you remember with last year's team and being undefeated the Defense was awesome to start the season. We blew out Kansas 72-40 and UCLA 83-42. The closest games were the first 2 SEC games with Ole Miss & Texas A&M both overtime games but our Defense last year started out awesome and everyone was talking about that last year. This year we have discussed that our "D" hasn't been that great up to this game tonight. If we can continue to play like we did tonight on Defense this team will be fine when March Madness rolls around. Most of Coach Cal's teams Defense usually starts playing like this during Conference Play. I believe we do have scorers in Ullis, Murray, Poythress, Lee has been in double digits most of the year, and get Briscoe and Skal going offensively and this team will be awesome come Tourney time.
Cal turning up the heat with those guards, our ball pressure is outstanding. We turned over Ole Miss before they could get in the half court sets. I love when Cal gets this team for weeks at a time with only playing one game a week. They are learning and growing into a team we all think they can be.
that's how uconn did it. forget that uk historically has good defense, or that cal demands great defense always, they beat us because their defense (especially ball pressure) was better than ours. it was all effort too. we have the guards to be that team this year. we should hawk the ball the rest of the year and not allow teams to run their offense normally.
