This loss can pay HUGE dividends.

Hagans is getting bashed pretty hard in the media. Cal can get his attention now. "You want to be a NBAer, straighten up and listen."

Also, this is a great teaching moment to not let up with a big lead.

Also, we fell from the 9 seed on Monday, to... the 9 seed on Wednesday. We were the 8 seed for two hours, but didn't take that big of a bump.

We focus and win Saturday and the SECT, we only need FSU or Louisville to lose a game and we are back on the 2 line. Guess what? They both can't win the ACCT.

Hopefully they learn from this and Cal gets their attention. Handle business the next week and a half and your a 2 seed. Probably #8 overall which means Gonzaga or SDSt bracket.

Will this loss make Ashton a better scorer and eliminate his careless turnovers?
Will this loss make Nick a better defender against stronger Post players?
Will this loss make Maxey more consistent?
Will this loss make EJ a better rebounder and scorer?
Will this loss teach Cal the importance of pace of play?

Sucks to take a loss at home, especially when we had control of the game.Lace em' up and play Saturday, then on to the SECT and see what we got. I think everyone in the SEC feels they have a chance to make a run, should be interesting.

No this is serious if you’re a uk basketball fan. 2 seed is out of play and it’s not likely we go on the road and beat Florida and it’s certainly not likely we run the table from not through the sec t. We are a loss away from a 4 seed and perhaps a 5 seed. There’s no spin on this. We are probably at best a sweet sixteen team and could be a first round out. Our pg has gone rogue and isn’t being held accountable instead his teammate draws the ire. That is a recipe for disaster in terms of going forward this season. If it were December ok maybe but we are in March and our second worst loss of the year just occurred.

Huh? You don't think UK is capable of beating UF on the road, pass that stuff man. 5 seed. You may be 1 of the 5 most negative people on this board, and you have strong competition

I highly doubt a 5 seed is in play unless we lose to Florida soundly and then round 1 of the SEC tournament. I think a 3 seed is the most likely outcome.

Yep, send us out west! We don’t need to play in a loaded Midwest or South bracket that the committee will give us, plus our guys play better on the road this year so can hopefully wait until a BBN takeover in Catlanta.

It's to late in the year to use this as anything positive in my opinion. Especially with the issues we have been dealing with all year. I don't see the players or Cal just flipping a switch and blowing teams out when they couldn't all season.

There's a good chance we will end the year losing 3 of the last 4 or 5 games going into the NCAA Tournament. That is unless some magical switch gets flipped and the team changes overnight.

I just think at this point they are what they are. They might make an Elite 8 (about the best case scenario I see with our issues) or they could lose in the First Round. I'm leaning toward them going out earlier than later unfortunately.

Did I say we aren’t capable? Whats wrong with you guys? You read and comprehend how you want? I said it’s “unlikely” we beat Florida on the road. Then I said it’s even more unlikely we run the table in the SECT. That’s just the facts man that’s not negativity. How can anyone take people seriously when they don’t adhere to logic? This is what’s wrong with the pumpers. Logic says UF will probably have an 80% chance to win. That means it’s not likely we win that one. Good grief people

Huh? We had to fight like hell to get to the 3 line. We’ve lost one, lose at Florida and in the sec championship game and we are a 5 seed. The committee isn’t going to do us any favors with 8 losses going into the tournament.

Btw based on the metrics the likely scenario now is 8 losses. Call me negative whatever but the likely record after the SEcT will be an 8 loss team.

You said we’re a loss away from perhaps being a 5 seed and then saying another poster isn’t being logical. It’s illogical to think one more loss drops us to a 5 seed. We’re still the 9th rated team on Lunardi’s bracketology. Even after last night. We’re closer to a 1 seed than 5 seed right now in terms of ranking. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a lot of teams this year losing games. 1 loss isn’t going to drop us that far. Even if we lose to Florida we’ll be low end 3, high 4. That’s a road game against a team solidly in the tournament right now.

The other 3 seeds on Lunardi’s bracket have 7, 6 and 6 losses. His 4 seeds have 7, 9, 7 and 9 losses already. You’re crazy if you think we’re looking at a 5 seed right now. Of course that can change if we get blown out Saturday and drop round 1 to Ole Miss or whoever we play in the SEC tournament.

Bracket Matrix, a composite of 136 brackets has us as the 2nd best 3 seed. We’d have to drop pretty far to get a 5 at this point. Possible? Sure. Likely? No.

Last night was a bad loss. I’m still a bit pissy over it.

That said, some of the knee jerking I’ve read here is plain lunacy.

Honest question. Did you feel this way prior to last night’s game because most people were much more optimistic. Throwing what they have accomplished since January due to o one really bad game is an over reaction. Look at all of the top 15 team teams that have had really bad games or multiple losses over the past two weeks. UK does not exist in a bubble. Last night was unsettling but not predictive.

If you win the SEC, reel off 8 wins in a row, but then lose a game, yes the naysayers and chicken littles will appear before you can say chill.

You read what you want too. Today if the tournament were held we would be a 3/4 seed. Idc what lunardi says the metrics say otherwise. Lose at Florida we are a solid 4 seed. Lose at Florida and in the semis of the sect and we will have a net below 25 and will be a 5 seed. Lose at Florida and make the secT final more likely a 4 maximum. Last nights loss drops us an entire seed line there is no doubt. We were a 3 last night lunardi had us the last 2 so we are likely the last 3 more likely a 4 Bc lunardi was wanting to play to our fans with his mid game chime in. So no I’m being totally logical looking at where we are today, and where we will likely end up. Lose at Florida and best case is a 4 seed at this point. Our big argument for a higher seed was recent play. Losing last night puts in big time jeopardy of losing 3 out of last 5 and having a sub 25 net ranking. Take off the blue tints

You have some good points but you are leaving out everyone else who has lost and still can.

Honest answer is no on seeding I thought we were headed for a 3 seed when all was said and done with a very outside chance at a 2. The primary metric the comittee looks at currently based on that we would be a 6 seed. As for what we have as a team I have been very concerned. We have been flirting with bad losses the last few weeks I mean you want honesty we should have lost to ole miss. They missed some free throws and we barely pulled that one out. The problem has been glaring. Now that it has a light shine upon it in rupp I don’t see it getting better. Maybe we beat Florida. I don’t think so bc that’s another home game we nearly lost but maybe we do. I’ll tell you beating Florida isn’t going to bump us back up 7 spots in the net. Idk that running the table will get us to a top 15 net ranking at this point. How the hell is the seeding committee going to ignore our net ranking and bad losses one very recent? Where are the high caliber quad 1 wins to offset? The conference offered us nothing. The committee relies heavily on net not the bracketologists.

You have some good points but you are leaving out everyone else who has lost and still can.

The problem is the net top 15 will be playing one another. We are the top team in the conference and if we win out sure we will get a bump but you know the odds of us winning at Florida then running the SECT are probably less than 10%.

I feel strong about this team on the road so I believe we will beat Florida but the SECT will be tough.

Haven't you been watching? No other team/conference seems to get punished with their losses as hard as Kentucky/the SEC. They all only have good losses while everything we do is bad. We can win out and I wouldn't be surprised if we get a 4 seed. Lose one or two more against the dreaded SEC and we definitely could be staring at a 5 seed. We always seem to end up a seed line or two lower than we expected to be.

Where did you pull 80% from? That negative azz I would say

I read what you wrote. We didn’t drop a full seed line anywhere I’ve seen except you. You may end up being right. Every team around us has lost some head scratchers. Maryland has lost soundly 2 games in a row now and they haven’t been dropped down to a 5. If one loss equals one drop in a seed line the tournament is going to have 24 8 seeds.

Aaron Harrison says hi! 2014 wasn't that long ago

I think the 2014 team would beat this team pretty easily. I'm not even talking about the tournament version of it. The version that lost at South Carolina.

So, the sky IS falling? Ok, thanks, bub.

And IF you're a UK basketball fan, sure the loss was awful. But I will continue to hope for the best, will be a Cat fan no matter what.

Not all losses are equal according to the ncaas metric.

It’s a bad loss at home not just one loss. Idc what the so called experts say based on net alone we drop 2 seed lines. I’m splitting the difference between what the pumpers day and what the metric says. Believe what you want but a team isn’t dropping 7 spots in net and not dropping in seeding.

No way Florida will be at 80% to win. Maybe 55% on high end

Yeah I mean it sucks, but we weren't going on a 19 game win streak to win the title. Could we start a new one and get to the FF, sure. During the 8 game win streak, it wasn't against duds. LSU on the road, AUB, MISS ST, solid teams. We had a letdown, it happens and it happens a lot this year.

We still haven't been blown out by 20 like Creighton the other day against an unranked team or had a bad losing streak like Maryland is on right now losing 3 of 4. FLST got beat by Clemson the other day, Dook has lost 3 of 5, Nova lost at home the other day to PVD. This is the type of year we are in. It finally happened to us, but it took a month while almost everyone has been dropping games left and right and the most Top 25 teams have lost to unranked in the history of college BB and by a mile.

We have our warts, but so do the majority of college BB. Ashton needs to get back to where he was a month plus ago and this team needs to look at the game as in quarters and try to win each quarter. To be motivated and see that in the 3rd quarter things are going south and right the ship before it's too late. Whatever it takes to make them understand that when they are up 10-15 they need to step on their throats and push it out to 20-25.

We won the SEC and got the hats and celebrated and then came out playing well in the first half and in the second up big we expected TN to lay down and we let go of the rope. I really hope this is the wake-up call before the most important games because if they could do that last night then they could do it in a week or two so they needed that. They didn't deserve to pull that out last night and all we can hope for is this is the last lesson they need before it is lose and go home.

I think the 2014 team would beat this team pretty easily. I'm not even talking about the tournament version of it. The version that lost at South Carolina.
If the roles were reversed I am sure you would say this team would beat that team easily

No Kentucky is destroyed. It’s all over. Next three years cancelled. Cal farred, all the players scholarships revoked. They are all eating pop tarts on the toilet. You can stop posting and go away now. Mission accomplished.
