Should have already happened. We have been the better team four of the past 5 years. Stoops has got to get this one figured out. Once he does, they will have to reside on the Vandy board, if there is such a thing.

Indeed. Sometimes outcomes belie circumstances and that's clearly the case here. UF is significantly better than UT and our record is better against them. Anomalies in outcome don't tend to last very long, so I would suspect a reversion to mean and us to be more like the MSU series moving forward and even better if we maintain our recruiting trajectory.

So with UT having the same amount of regular season conference titles and conference tourney titles while beating you head to the last 5 seasons, does that mean they’ve passed you in basketball?

Great question! I would say, while using the same parameters as the football question, UT has certainly closed the gap, but the primary measure is not the head-to-head result, rather some compilation of regular season, SEC tourney and March Madness finishes. The later compilation being subjective, but I would probably put a weighting of RS-30%, Tourney-20% and March Madness result 50%. So while H2H is certainly relevant in the micro, I would argue the wider macro view is more pertinent. Which is a long winded way to say, UT has played us very well, but they haven't passed us because their just not consistent enough in the big dance. Make it to a couple of FF and then we'll talk.

It could happen, if everything aligned perfectly:

(1) Georgia shows itself dominant against all competition, but stumbles to a single digit victory in Lexington;

(2) The SEC West team comes into Atlanta with one (or more) regular bad season loss and Georgia trounces them:

(3) A buttload of the usual suspects end up with two losses, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson, etc.

But I don’t foresee it.
