The positive: if you knew that Kentucky's road to the Final Four involved Illinois, Tennessee, and Houston, would you take that?

We might not even be favorites against Illinois. UT has the strength of a 1 seed historically.

But hey! You can't control who you play. Somebody has to win the game.
I think you take this path over the Duke/Bama path, and you also avoid Florida and Auburn.

I think this is the best possible road for UK, although I'm not suggesting they are going to be favored past Sunday.

that’s two of best defensive team’s in the country. so, no, not really.

i don’t mind playing tennessee and the field up to, potentially, houston. i’d rather play anyone than them. it is truly a terrible matchup.

since i’m not expecting us to make the regional final, i don’t think much about it. if houston loses, though, it’s anyone’s region.

We have beaten better teams than Illinois. We have beaten UT twice. Elite eight game anything can happen. If its Houston it is preferable to UF or Auburn. One game at a time.

I just feel like if we can get to next weekend we are going to FF. These next two games will be toughest. This team won't lose in EE, jmho.

Absolutely. We match up well with Illinois. We’ve beaten UT twice. If this banged up team reaches the elite 8 anything after is gravy.

Florida beats Houston by double digits as does Duke or Auburn. This Houston team is not as dominant defensively as the last 3 or 4 Houston squads.
We'll see.

By the way, how many of the first 32 games did you pick correctly? I assume it's all of them, correct?

Not beating UT 3 times, so nope
If the game takes place, would you rather be the team that has lost the previous to matchups or the team that has won those previous matchups? Clearly most would rather be the one who won. Clearly, UT would be feeling more pressure going into that game than UK.

L's Clemson, Marquette, Louisville, UNC and more than a few others. Better question would have been, how much did you make betting the past two days?

I don't gamble other than things like the tourney pool at work. I think it's stupid.

So I'm out $10 total for the entire basketball season so far. But I'm winning that pool, so we'll see.

Sorry your first round went so poorly.

I'll live. Two brackets and all of my elite 8's left in 1 and 6 of 8 left in the other. As far as betting goes, I'll be betting with their money the rest of the tournament. If Alabama would have played any kind of defense, I would be done betting until football season.

I remember when Houston was sitting at 4-3 after two OT losses and Samson made the comment well they can forget about us now but they will remember us in the future.

Since that point they only lost one additional game by a single point in OT.

While I realize they haven’t won a title yet and with the number of contenders this season maybe not this year either but I’m willing to bet at some point he gets one

No, I play the law of averages. Very difficult to beat a team 3 times unless you are just overwhelmingly better than them. That is not the case here.

I am willing to bet you that UT will be as worried about playing us as you are about playing them.

I can't speak on that. Just very difficult to beat a team 3 times like that. Also how big a factor was Robinson in those games? Asking because I can't remember.

I believe we won one of those games without Robinson and Butler. I think Butler started but went out of the game early in the first half.

BYU/Alabama/Duke would be much tougher for us, imo.
You’re right.

My mistake was using history as a reference point rather than the actual bracket.

Both paths contain teams that are strong for their seed. BYU and Duke are better than Illinois and Houston.

Won't be surprised if we lose tomorrow and it is a moot point. I think UT is a better team objectively

If I were you, I would find a better way to spend my time since you seem to think there is no need to play the game. Some fans have been shoveling dirt on Pope in the Cats ever since he arrived. It seems that some fans are just waiting for the next loss instead of celebrating the wins.
