The pigs just sealed us the 8 seed if i understand this correctly

If Vandy wins and we lose, I think we still get the round robin tie with the other 9-9's. I think 8 is most likely in that scenario. Win at Mizzou and 7 looks most likely. A&M is probably not losing at LSU.

Edit: Assuming Missouri wins at Oklahoma. But that is not a guarantee. Tigers are different on the road.

I'm cool with one SEC tourney win at this point.

If we can get to 22 wins overall, I think you take it as a blessing, and then you hit the portal like Alexander the Great taking Persia.
Ha ha. The fact that two things your assuming we will win and the assumption we wont win more then 1. No one knows. this team has most everyone as healthy as they are going to be they can run off 6 wins. But don’t let me get in the way of your defeatest attitude

That would be surprising to me. We don't have the top tier talent that UK has had to win the ncaa title or even make a final four.

We also aren't close to healthy. Saul's prediction is way closer than your pie n the sky. You will be one of the ones bitching if we lose n 2nd round.

A win at Missouri would be massive. If the guys can get that, then win at least 1 in the SECT, that most likely gets us another game with Auburn. Just the fact that we played Auburn helps our metrics and if we can at least keep it close, we can cement ourselves into that 3 seed slot.
Beat Auburn and we might be looking at a 2 seed.

Understandable but UK being an 8 seed is awful.

Read the first word please.
Arguably the best conference of all time with a roster put together with mid-major transfers and freshmen in about three weeks. Oh, and he assembled his coaching staff at the same time.

If you would have said 3-seed in NCAA at the time, you’d be over the moon. This isn’t our grandfathers’ SEC

Matt said on the post game that we hold the tie breaker vs miss st and vandy if we finish with the same records so that’s why I said we are an 8 regardless what happens this wkend with them or us. Are we 1 game ahead of both of them currently?? I believe we are so we could possibly move up from 8 but I think we can’t fall from the way he explained with both losing last night.

Winning at Missouri will be a long shot, something tells me they will play like Auburn did against us. They would still give their two front teeth to beat Kentucky.

I think it will be more like the UT games. We hold them because they are TOO anxious to win, and they know they really have nothing to gain or lose from winning or losing. This isn't one of those games where they are vying to get a bid - they're already in, easily. This game will be more of a senior night (do they even have any seniors?)/last home game/UK is everyone's super bowl kind of game. So yeah, they'll be motivated, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say they come in over confident and have a cold night.

That's not true. We can still get the 9 with an MSU loss, a UK loss, 2 Ole Miss losses, and a Vandy win. Basically if we end tied with Ole Miss and Vandy only.

BTW, those are actually the predicted outcomes for those 5 games too.

Also, even if we beat Missouri, our only path to a 7 seed is 2 Ole Miss losses and an A&M win against LSU. If A&M losses, then we could get a 6, but that's about the only way this can happen.

Still a lot of scenarios where we get the 9 seed.

Ole Miss winning tonight would guarantee us the bye. Arkansas losing to Miss St. would also guarantee us the bye.
But on the other hand, Ole Miss losing to UT and then @ Florida, and us winning @ Missouri means we finish ahead of Ole Miss.

The best Vandy can finish is 9-9. What would be the reason for them winning a tiebreaker over us?

Troll alert ^

It appears to me just looking at records that we could still somehow get the 5 spot. That would take a ton of stuff breaking right. Ole Miss losing twice(pretty possible), Mizzou losing tonight and UK beating them Saturday(who knows?), A&M losing to LSU(not likely). But a 6 does look somewhat promising if we could beat Mizzou.

I think it's an amazing accomplishment to be where this team is right now.

Pope didn't just throw this roster together though. Yes, the portal had already been picked through, but Pope meticulously picked who he wanted based on fitment and it worked.
Through injuries and playing the toughest conference ever, he managed to put this team in a position to nab a 3 seed in the NCAAT.

If this team plays like they did last night, they can do big things, especially playing teams that don't know us. The trick is to get them to play like that consistently.

So if I understand correctly, we can still be anywhere from a 6-9 seed.
If we tie with Ole Miss and Vandy (same record) then Vandy is 8 and we are 9 due to the 3 way head to head. Vandy 2-1 and we are 1-2 in the head to heads.

Then we can go all the way up to a 6 is the right teams win/lose.

If we can win at Mizzu we can win the national championship. I don’t think either will happen.

Don’t want the 5 though. I want the 6 or 7. Consider me scared of Auburn, just being honest

They pretty much always play like that at home . At least the games I’ve watched.

Not doubting you but they really should come up with a better tiebreaker with the unbalanced schedules. Vandy played 2 of the 3 at home, UK 2 of 3 on the road. Ole Miss would somehow get the 7 seed because they only played the other teams once apiece?. Strength of schedule would be a better method. Our SEC schedule was a gauntlet. UT and Bama twice. Most of the evenly matched teams with us we only played once were on the road.

I’m beyond tired of “put the team together in a month” being used as an excuse. Had we sucked then it’s a legit excuse. But when you start the year 10-1 with wins over Duke, Zaga and UL while looking like a top 5-10 team but then use the roster excuse when we finish with a bad record.

The truth is, even with injuries, we had NO BUSINESS losing to OSU/UGA/Vandy/Texas/Arkansas. Take those 5 losses away, or even just 3, and the outlook on this season is much different.
