I'm soooo glad we haven't had anything to be Doomsayers about the last few years. How you doing, Dep?
I remember my first post after joining the board in 2002, I believe it was, was titled "When did you first lose faith in Tubby?" Being new to the board, I assumed everybody was seeing what I was seeing. I couldn't believe the ridicule and blowback I got in that thread! Became an unabashed LOD member shortly thereafter.
I remember those times. I was a silent Tubby supporter. I all ways thought Tubby was a good man. I enjoyed the back and forth banter. You mentioned Tubby's spit cup. I often wonder if he was dipping snuff or chewing tobacco or just chewing on ice. Any one know for sure what the cup was for????
I have forgotten the Tubby stare. I was some where on the east coast for business and was watching the U.K./U. Ga game. (I think Tubby was at Ga. before coming to U.K.). Any way his team was playing the CATS and Tubby was so pissed at his team I thought his eyes were going to pop out of his head. That was my first time seeing the "Tubby Stare."
LODer here also. Was also on the Cal bandwagon but was told he was a cheater. Went by CrumsBaldSpot back in those days. 
Proud of my past membership of LOD . Hopefully I had a tiny bit to do with ole tubby leaving ! Deplion , don't forget katwatcher , releasethesquirms, and smokey pearl !We had some good times.
Not nearly as good a time as we are having now that Cal is here, but it is kind of fun to look back on some of those epic battles from back in the day.
pepsiman, kybassfan, and even Matt Jones were some of our biggest foes. Over time, I actually grew to like all of those guys.
I am really glad that we are all back on the "same side" again.
For a few years there , you were my hero ! LolI never went away.
I was one of the ones that flipped from Super Friend (or maybe just loyal to a fault fan?) to unofficial L.O.D member during his final two seasons here.
It's difficult when you're a fan yet it's obvious that things aren't going as well as you know they could and should be. It's difficult because on one hand you know it's for the best that a change be made, but on the other hand you still love and support the team. It's a very fine line to try to walk. It frustrated me because I genuinely liked the man as a person and I wanted him to succeed here more than anything, but he was so stubborn in his coaching philosophy and lackadaisical in his recruiting, like he could just fill the spots with anybody and we'd be okay (a philosophy that BCG was unfortunately on board with). I really felt like I was going to lose it during the Patterson recruitment. We had missed out on Hansbrough, missed out on Wright, missed out on Kemp, missed out on Young, missed out on pretty much all of our high profile targets, and I was convinced that we were going to miss out on Lucas and especially Patterson if Tubby stayed.

I'm just glad that the fan base is no longer fractured and that our biggest arguments these days are which 5 star players we should be going after and which players should've gotten more minutes in the Final Four.

I guess you can say I was a member. I really don't remember too many that argued that tubby is not the right coach back when I first started saying it. I was on here and on other boards stating that he wasn't the right coach after we lost to USC I guess that was back in '01??? Maybe 2000??
I was blacklisted several times on here and many times on other boards after I would create another user name. I had to go to friends houses with a different IP address and resign up. When the board changed format I got on again that time. I done forgot my other names I had but I remember bleedingblue. Bleedingblue1 etc those are easy to remember lol
Only guy I remember that would team up with me was a guy named Golfncat. I would get into some heated discussions with friend of tubby and the like, even the professor was a huge tubby proponent.
It was so bad that all his supporters was wanting UK to sign him to a lifetime contract. I was pulling my hair out at the lunacy from the fans. What's funny is that the professor changed sides and was one of the guys that was interviewed In regards to a change. I was banned on every UK board but one and that was on katmans board dynasty defenders. It was on his board where we organized and ran ideas on bringing attention on our downfall into mediocrity. We then decided to buy add space and go on radio programs if we could. You guys may of remembered that. I was cut off the radio as soon as I brought it up when I was on locally. I was on several radio shows nationally though that had no dog in the fight. Had a friend of mine I used to play ball with that had his own show and I was on his show a good bit and he agreed with me. He used to play against UK in some battles but still is a fan of our program. Good guy right their. Talked a good bit off air and would tell me stuff he was hearing from other Coaches. It was him where I learned that Cal was wanting to go to UK if Tubby left. Give me a contact very very close to Cal and we chatted and verified the info my good friend told me. I informed them they we were working on gettig tubby out but had no influence on the hiring or getting process much less who the AD was going to look at. They told me later on and I got a phone call that tubby took the Minnesota job. I sat on that waiting to see if Mitch would contact Cal. By this time it was delivered to him that cal wants the job. Never got a call.
I also started the boos at the marshal county hoopfest in Tubby's last season lol. I boo'd very loudly and he stared at me right in the eyes and I bellowed again and this time the whole gym joined in and he just stared at me. I didn't look away either. I wasn't gonna let him stare me down after that poor showing against UNC earlier then I had that long drive to marshal county ky. It was in early dec and later we found out that his agent was shopping him around right after that. I'm glad I helped him out the door whatever small part I played in it.
One thing that I noticed though is that those who lived around Lexington were swinging on Tubby's nutz but those of us who didn't see the baby kissing and only the product thought it was bad. If tubby would have stayed Patterson was not coming and Jai Lucas was. We would have been very bad.

Deplion, I remember u being the most rational and well spoken member of the LOD. Since we got what we wanted, does that mean we were right? J/kI never went away.

I'm a proud member of the LOD from way back. I think the Ole LOD was proven to be correct as well. Look at Smith since he left Kentucky. I also might add that he never beat a team seeded higher than 5th in the NCAA Tourney after he won the title in 1998. That should tell you all you need to know.

I remember him chasing a few of us to the TCU board and threatening to track us down and kill us. Literally. In that moment, he was entirely serious. We truly pushed him to a breaking point.

I appreciate what you contributed to Tubbys demise !I guess you can say I was a member. The best way to figure out if someone is a troll / poser is to read as many message boards as you can. If you see a talking point that other another fan base has about UK (negative) and some one brings it up here like a drive by... odds are great that person is a poser trying to stir crap up.

God, he was awful. The race card at the drop of a hat was bad, but he'd also run to all the other boards and gleefully tell rival fans how terrible UK fans were. He was also a "fan" of about 20 different programs.
My biggest run-ins with him were on other boards. He would get torn to shreds by the LOD here, then run to his hideouts.
