I remember getting SLAUGHTERED by TSFs for suggesting Cal as a possible replacement...we fought the good fightI never went away.
i assume '06 or later guys? i didn't participate until barry's ultimatum thread and still never chose a side.

Was on the fringe of the original group, under a slightly different name. Left in frustration with some of the ridiculousness that was going on with the mods around 2003. The worst offenders left to start the Scout board, KSR(eport), and I came back here a few years later.
Dep was definitely the leader. He was the one guy who could always hold his temper, no matter how poorly he got treated, and no matter how absurd and random some of the mods would get. I guess I can sympathize with some of those old mods a little bit, as it was early in the message board era, and it's a fine line you have to walk between promoting UK sports and suppressing legitimate fan opinions. However, some of those people I can't sympathize with, because they acted like they were auditioning for a job at Orwell's Ministry of Truth.

The council meets on the first Tuesday of each month. If you'd like to join us we're considering a request from UK football fans to buy at cost FOR SALE signs that we never used.
We had some good times.
Not nearly as good a time as we are having now that Cal is here, but it is kind of fun to look back on some of those epic battles from back in the day.
pepsiman, kybassfan, and even Matt Jones were some of our biggest foes. Over time, I actually grew to like all of those guys.
I am really glad that we are all back on the "same side" again.

I joined up but it was late in Tubby's last season. I think it was after that second loss to Vandy where a player basically lost the game on a free throw lane violation that finally was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. After that, I was all in for Tubby to go. But I remember those days well. This was not a pleasant place to be in those days. It wasn't as bad when it was time to Billy G to go. There was more of a consensus.
Yea the mods in the early/mid 2,000's were unbelievable. Completely ran a pro tubby forum. I was banned back then several times for merely suggesting we could do better. Just banned, and for very little reason.

I was banned for starting a thread about OTS dipping snuff during the games lol It had gotten to the point that I was just getting sick of seeing him and hearing him........ He had someone hold his spit cup...... It was kinda a joke but it became a war zone. It was fun banter......glad that time is gone and we are where we are now as a program.
Ohhh pepsiman! It's funny how you miss certain posters that were....well, so frustrating back then.
Actually the whole situation was frustrating...knowing what was occurring before our very eyes, while having no real singular power to stop it. I honestly felt like organizing sit-ins to stop the degradation of a team and sport that we all love so much. Basketball was simply not fun back then.

LOD here--got moderated, edited and banned--still standing and proud that I was right about the tubster. BCG was the bridge we had to cross to Cal--no regrets.
Pepsi man had to be a troll right? I don't remember seeing him post much at all since Cal got here.
I was very vocal against Tubby his last 2 years. Got myself banned after he left by simply posting a thread saying "even though I wanted a new direction, Tubby was still a great man and thanks for the good memories" and a mod was so mad at that I got banned. Not the same username obviously.
I wonder how many of the Tubby Super Friends are wishing they weren't so blind after seeing him fail miserably twice after leaving UK.

It's another reason I don't listen to jones or give him clicks. The guy is an opportunist who takes sides based on what's in his interest, not the truth.

And I think you probably just exposed yourself for the main reason you can't tolerate Jones.
I have disagreed with Jones on a crap load of stuff, but still enjoy his show and site. Hell, I actually did one of those open KSTV casting calls and got into a heated argument with him about the state of our football program and, not surprisingly, got the boot. Of course he gets me irritated at times and I am left wondering why I ever give him any time, but that is also what makes the show interesting as opposed to the other media who are generally stale and without any texture.
