The Movement - Year 8

Tom Crean was hired 8 years ago to rebuild Indiana the"right way". It has been referred to as the movement, and for years everyone praised his coaching ability. Now after all of these years, not a single Final Four banner. All they have is a buzzer beater against Kentucky in December on their homecourt.

Is there any other blue blood program that would allow this to go on for 8 years? How much longer does Indiana accept this mediocrity? Can Indiana still claim to be a Blue blood?

I hope he signs a lifetime contract, the Indiana fan base is right up there with Louisville.

Uh, cutting down nets after a loss for share of big ten title, french kissing his son in public (must have been a push for gay and pedophile rights), and sweet sixteen rings. Really, how many teams have sweet sixteen rings? Crean stays! He's gold Jerry, gold!

I don't see it lasting much longer. Before the end of last year, there were already rumblings of him wanting out. The constant hounding of his family is apparently wearing on him - as it would on anybody.

Problem is, he has a hugeeeee contract that they will not want to buy out. I assume there will be some mutual agreement if he disappoints again this year, especially with how hard the President is now leaning on the athletics department with regards to the off court incidents of late.

I don't really mind the guy, honestly. I think he's a good coach that knows basketball from an X's and O's standpoint. But - and its a huge "BUT" -, he is an incredibly awkward person, and I cant imagine how painfully awkward he is on in home visits. You can't maintain relevancy if you can't recruit. You can't recruit if you can't connect to kids. And you can't win basketball games if a portion of the recruits you bring to the table get kicked off the team for running people over with cars and drinking beer.

He just has to go. I think he knows that, as do Indiana fans.

What's not to love? He's given them back-to-back Sweet-16s!!!!!!!!

Do the right thing IU. Extend the man's contract.

This will be Crean's 3rd best squad there, I think, by a pretty wide margin over the 4 years out of the tourney and last year's 10 seed. I'd not be shocked to see them in the sweet 16 again this year - but probably no it further. And then Yogi graduates, and they could have early entrants. Can they pay a big bailout to fire a coach who just went to the sweet 16? But it's still probably nor building for the future. Crean's "movement" has them a sweet 16 contender maybe every other year, and with luck try get past that. Not blue blood level of success, but hopefully just enough success go keep him around.

I don't think Crean gets enough credit for what he's done for the local economy. The guy singlehandedly has kept phone books relevant. Popcorn purchases have increased since Crean has taken the helm at IU. Jewelers have thrived as well as basketball net producers. It's not all about wins and losses my friends.

Two sweet sixteen rings though! What is sad is that IU had a really talented team in 2013 but crean just isn't a real student of the game. He is a student of offense. Aside from being a moron and making strange faces, crean also doesn't really play a brand of ball that translates to wins. He loves drawing up offensive plays and that's great but defensive teams withstand for the most part. Look at this years final four. All four were really good defensive teams. Crean will never concentrate on defense that is final four level.

I think IU should give him a lifetime contract. Who else can say they have been to back to back Sweet Sixteens? Especially in today's competition. Lock him up IU

All I know is Crean has a top notch agent. They've played IU like a fiddle.

Only one solution to an 8-year movement.

That massive contract wouldn't stop Kentucky from tossing that clown, thankfully Indiana cares more about money than winning.
