Mad respect for Bob Dylan, but listing him amongst the greatest voices of all time, well... I can't go there.

No one said he is on a list of greatest voices. The thread is "iconic" which doesn't describe most of those mentioned in the thread. Dylan's voice is actually iconic given his style and body of work....it all flows together.

This guy never received widespread acclaim, and many people have never heard of him. But he had a controlled intensity and a sincerity that made all his performances feel authentic and deeply felt.

Billy Joel. You may not like all of his music, but his vocal style would be what I call iconic.

If you like Broadway stuff, Andrew Rannels is amazing.

There’s a southern gospel singer named Guy Penrod who was in a group with another vocalist named David Phelps. Both are vocal powerhouses, most people don’t even know their names, and they sang together.

I’ll echo the Sebastian Bach, Whitney/Mariah/Aretha love.

A Billy goat? She wasn’t even the best female singer in her band.

In the duet "Leather and Lace", Nicks had the first part--then Don Henley's part came and he basically "saved" the song from total ruin at 1:40

These artists had multiple hits and in the business for years. The thing that sets them apart to me is their amazing voices.

1. Stven Tyler ---- Dude could do things with his voice nobody else can.
2. Stevie Nicks -- Just an amazing voice that as soon as you hear her sing you know exactly who it is.
3. Tom Keifer ---- Same as Stevie Nicks
4. Keith Whitley - Died way to soon but for about 5 years tore up the country charts.

Of all the singers I listed the one thing all of them also have in common is they have so much raw emotion in their voice they literally can make you feel the song as you lived it. Truly amazing.

Agreed. If you’re gonna do iconic, throw in Lennon, McCartney, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Dylan, etc. Doesn’t mean they’re the most unique, but everybody knows who they’re listening to when they hear their voices. Throw in Seger, Bruce, Peter Cetera, Elton John, etc. Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey,..

-Greatest voice of all time is Roy Orbison’s. Prove me wrong.

When I think of iconic it's usually much older music. Jimmy Durante certainly didn't have the greatest voice but was definitely considered iconic.

Personal opinion is a very easy argument when even you agree with the voice being bad. Yes, I understand iconic, but when it is annoying, I am not sure iconic is the word I would use when it was too hard to listen too.
