THE MASTERS

Phil with Rory will be fun. Some very intriguing pairings.
My group to follow would be Jason Day, Sergio, Rickie Fowler.

Another real dark horse is Brian Harman. From Savannah, Georgia and went to U of Georgia. The lefty hits it a long way. If he putts well, he should be top ten on Sunday.

The last time UK lost a F4 semi in an odd number year the winner of the Shell Houston Open (played same week as F4) went on to win The Masters.

Congrats JB.

Would love to see "The Campbellsville Crusher" put on a Green Jacket. It would be a huge step toward a Hall of Fame career.

You got me there. Did not realize I was calling him Justin.

The last group will be money to watch. Why isn't this whole tournament on TV start to finish? Can somebody answer why I can't watch it live? Anybody have a live stream feed I can watch while not working?

2) KJ Choi (Not an American but an incredible great guy)
Unless you have a specific story about him that I don't, I'll go with what I've always heard/read from tour circles- he's a grade A dickhead.

I remember Golf Digest used to (maybe still does) anonymously ask caddies a lot of questions about life on the tour including who's the best/worst to play for, who would you least like to caddy for, etc. KJ always showed up on the worst to play with/least like to caddy for lists.

Masters.com will have live golf starting at 10:45am Thursday and Friday at Amen Corner, 15 and 16 and featured groups at 12 which is likely Phil and Rory. So if at work go there.

This is just one example of Choi's popularity.

It¡¯s not everyday you see 6 white guys wear matching t-shirts and cheering on an Asian athlete. But that¡¯s just the case for golf pro The Players Championship.

And how do a bunch of Southern boys become die-hard fans and root for a South Korean golfer, you might ask?

¡°We came out here in ¡¯05 and watched,¡± said Clayton. ¡°Of all the guys, we found K.J. Choi the most fan-friendly and we liked the way he played.¡±

Added Brad, ¡°No matter if he birdied or double-bogeyed, he still paid the same amount of attention to the fans. Every time.¡±

¡°He is really great to the fans,¡± said Gribble. ¡°Right in the middle of his round, he signed a ball and dropped it off to a kid. You can tell he really loves the game and respects it, whereas with some of the other players you can¡¯t.¡±

In 90 degree heat, the guys wore these shirts everyday during the tourney. Lots of Febreze was used, according to one of them. Choi, was very appreciative of their support, especially since the South Korean golfer kicked ass, dead heat against David Toms.

At the trophy presentation on the 18th hole, Choi waved in his biggest fans to take a photo behind the ropes. Choi adds, ¡°For them to fly all the way over to support me the way they did ¡ it¡¯s really spectacular.¡±

¡°It was a well-deserved win and couldn¡¯t have happened to a nicer guy,¡± said Gribble. ¡°We¡¯re obviously on Cloud Nine right now.¡±

He also stopped and spoke with my son at the Arnold Palmer Invitational a couple of weeks ago. Choi signed his name in Korean and I can see how there might be a slight language barrier. However, he communicated very well with my son and acted as a true gentleman. He interacted with the entire crowd and was very popular among all the patrons.

I was there Monday, talk is course is better than ever this year. It looked like fairways were cut short but players said they were longer than normal. Spoke to some caddies at dinner and a couple of players. Said Furyk is playing great, Spieth, Jimmy Walker are all playing great. Jason Day apparently shot a 29 in a practice round a few weeks ago.
Caddies said odds of Jason Day, Speith, Dustin Johnson were playing very well too
Phil was bad on Tuesday, he could not make a putt, caddies said he was not playing well at all. Phil may snap out of it. He was on putting green for 2 hours Tuesday. His speed was way off. Phil will probably snap out of it.

Some said the rumor is Woods is striping it and it was said Monday night that O'Meara said Tiger shot 30 on front nine.
One of the caddies said if Rory is remotely on and can get around 10-12 in even par that he is going to win.

Couples will be hanging around making cut as usual.

Real Deal, if one doesn't have an idea what a wedge does or what an albatross is, one will love going to Augusta. If one likes golf, one must put it high on the bucket list and will enjoy the experience more than anything ever. If one is a golf historian, one who knows exactly where Phil stood in the pine straw on 13, if one knows exactly where Larry Mize chipped in to beat Greg Norman from 140 feet on 11, if one knows where Tiger chipped in on 16, where Jack raised his putter on 17, if one loves to see where this history was made, every dollar is worth it and a trip is required to fulfill life.

Cheap chicken salad sandwiches, no cell phones. It is one of the most special places on earth.

It is simply spectacular. 13 may be the prettiest hole and fun hole, 12 is simply amazing. Went to Phil's spot on 13 and the pine straw, that was a great shot. Amazing thing was not the shot itself and getting through trees, the execution of not slipping on those pine needles, they are slick.

Loved the view of 18 hitting up that chute, that would be one white knuckler to know you need to make par or birdie, Kenny Perry, Greg Norman etc.. You cannot bomb it over trap. Best shot is a fade with 3 wood. Still must hit it well.

It is a bucket list type deal. Tickets are crazy high, people treat you great, beer is 3, cokes 1.50, sandwiches 1.5-2.5

16 was fun to watch, the slope on those greens are unbelievable. Truly have to hit perfect yardages and keep the ball below hole. Watched Tiger late Monday night hit his second shot on 8 or 9 behind hole. He barely tapped putt and it almost rolled off green. OMeara was laughing.

It is unbelievable experience, not one blade of grass out of place, not one weed. Never saw one piece of trash on ground, I mean nothing.
IMO

First practice round my family went to was in 1982. We were literally given a badge by some people coming off the course. Later badges were $15 at the gate for practice rounds. Last time I went was in 2007 and the practice badges were A LOT, LOT more. I paid well into 4 figures for my family to get in. It was worth every dollar though.

I rank the majors in the order they are played. Nothing is better than THE Masters, regardless of air time.

Stat just reported on Golf Channel: the last nine Masters winners have been in the top ten after round one.

Not getting to see early coverage is a bit frustrating, however there is not better TV come Sunday afternoon. I think it is 3 minutes of commercials per hour. CBS doesn't make a lot of money on the broadcasting of the Masters. However, it does advance their department. March Madness is a cash cow.

Justin Rose at 40/1 is probably worth a few bucks. Drives the ball well and doesn't putt poorly. Struggled some with hole proximity which of course would hinder putting. If the wind gets up on the weekend, it will lengthen the course which actually will bring some shorter hitters into play. Par 5's are basically par 4's for the long hitters. If that playing field is leveled and everyone is laying up, look out for Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, and 1000 to 1 shot Mike Weir.

Rose off to a good start so far.

Willett was a number one ranked amateur a few years ago in Europe. Very talented and that indeed was a nice putt on 13. Charley Hoffman with a great round.

Tough place to return for Tiger. Not really the place to repair his game. But, only one of four places to get a major.

Spieth is playing really, really well. I thought Matsuyama was playing great also until he bogeyed 17 and 18. Lots of guys near the top. Should be a fun weekend in Augusta. Ernie could make for a great story.

I think I'll be fine. He may be right there at the end, but he won't win.

Yeah, I would take the field of Spieth, Day, Simpson, Haas, Casey, Henley, etc over Rose. No European has won the Masters in the 21st Century so if he does it would be quite a feat. He has the game.

Spieth is playing on another planet right now. Crazy.

Speith shoots a 64 with a six. Dude is legit. Don't know if he can go wire to wire. We shall see.

A very positive day for Tiger by all accounts. He has to shake the rust and in reality, for now, he's just another golfer. But the short game success of yesterday bodes well for Tiger.

Ben Crenshaw should have retired from The Masters last year. He might make the cut if he can post rounds of 24-24 today. Don't think a round of 72 today for Tiger will get him into the weekend. Needs to be in the mid 60's.
