The fan base is insufferable right now.

Lol...name the team that had a 51% chance to win in your model. (I hate all these models by the way).

If you can't name the team, or if ur answer is that the remaining 51% was apportioned among the remaining 60 something teams, then we were supposed to win..

You must be great at revising history.
That's the silliest argument I've ever heard. First of all, the number was not 51%, but second of all, if you bought 100 lottery tickets, but everyone else in the world bought only 1, are you "supposed to win"?

This reminds me of an exchange I witnessed at one of the autograph signings. The entire night had gone tremendous. The fans were in awe and tremendously respectful of the former Cats. Toward the end, a young fellow with all the redneck markings and attire, says to one of the players. "How about that last game, man? What happened there?". The player kind of shrugs. The fellow continues. "Dang, we should have got that one." The player says, "Man, you would have to mentioned that game."

The point is that 99% of the fans coming through the line were beyond nice, they treated the players like they were royalty. Then one guy comes in with an ignorant remark that was totally uncalled for. Every population has that faction that will embarrass all the rest. It's just a fact, but embarrassing nonetheless.

You can always tell the ones who don't travel to away games and don't interact with other fan bases, like syracuse for example.

This fan base is one of the best, and most supportive. Get out more. You'll see quickly that the UK nation is far and away better than most.

lol...and you think that's the same thing? My gosh.

You do realize that someone is guaranteed to win the NCAA tournament EVERY TIME ITS PLAYED....don't you?

Since this keeps popping up, maybe I should have been more specific. The internet faction of the fan base.

I think a lot of the problem is, that we had as someone mentioned above the "dream team" and we got to the wall much like "Picketts charge" only to be repelled, then we watch as the magnificent seven go chase their dreams while we are left to reload and then we watch as those we hope comes decide somewhere else is where they want to be. I believe as a poster said the other day that when you win the championship it is only a fleeting thing...and I agree somewhat but with me and maybe some others we know Cal won't be here forever and we are in our window of opportunity to overtake UCLA in all time championships...which is beginning to look kind of like a dog chasing its tail.

I thought he was merely biased. Turns out he's obtuse....

Nobody intelligent said that. Only people who are complete statistical ignoramuses made claims like that.

The team ended up with like a 41% chance in the statistical models before the tourney started even after one of the most impressive regular seasons of all time. That's nothing close to "being picked to easily win it all". And that number is incredibly high for even the most dominant of teams in a single elimination tourney that is 6 games long against the top 64 teams in the country. If you know how probability works, you'll understand why.

...
People who don't understand how probability works are the most frustrating in the world to communicate with. If you don't have a basic grasp of what is likely or unlikely, your expectations will eternally be wrong. For everything. In the world. Life must be so confusing for you.

I would have thought this is all pretty fundamental and easy to grasp.......

Damn. You got me there. Really poked a hole in my argument, by pointing out all those times they held a lottery and nobody won.

Oh wait...
