The chiefs would have marched down the field and scored a td and 49ers never get the ball. That's why IMO.

I think the theory was probably to rest their defense after they got gashed on the drive to end regulation. I still think it was the wrong choice though. Getting the ball second so you know if you need to go for 4th down or not is a big advantage in this format.

It's just a cycle and it happens in nearly every sport. Bulls in the 90s, Lakers, Spurs, Warriors in the 2000s, Pats and Chiefs in the NFL, and realistically a handful of teams in college basketball and football. The best usually continue being the best for a handful of years and then another team comes along and they're one of the best.

Baseball has had red Sox win 4 and giants 3 this century. Cardinals and aholes won 2 too. Yankees with just 1 this century in 2009 though. 2000 was last century over the Mets.
Nfl has had 9 between patriots and chiefs this century.
Nba is super awful on parity this century and was bad last century too. Spurs have 4, lakers have 5 and warriors have 4 and heat 3. Raptors and nuggets and cavs and mavs winning were cool though.
