Absolutely. He is a phenomenal coach. Tons of positivity and would be grateful to be at UK rather than complaining nonstop.

Stoops is paid top 10 of all coaches in college football. We definitely can and will do better
One guy had a top 15 win stolen today and the other guy lost by 25 as a double digit favorite.

Absolutely it does. You aren't winning anything that matters n the sec or nationally without good recruiting every season.
I think you missed my point. Recruiting doesn't matter if we are just going to implement a shitty gameplan with 0 discipline and no ability to adjust. X's and O's and such.
But, just to make a point, do me a favor and compare Tulanes last four recruiting classes to KSU's.
Kansas state isn't winning anything that matters either. You aren't winning in big conferences without high level recruiting and discipline and Xs and Os.
It's absolutely wild how you can't see the damn forest for the trees. Yes, Sumrall would need to recruit well here but, more importantly, he would need to be a massive upgrade as an in game coach compared to Stoops.
Given his performance as a HC thus far, I'd say he has done so extremely well.
People don't realize that when Sumrall was at UK, the kids he was the lead recruiter for had the highest star average amongst all coaches, including Vince.….the dude can recruit.
Yes, he would obviously be an upgrade. But, it doesn't matter. He will no longer be available by the time Barney is willing to actually make a move. We know from history that our AD will not, under any circumstance, be proactive relative to football.

I'd argue Sumrall is a very solid risk to take.....he's a good defensive coach and can scheme a better offense than Stoops ever has....and he has amassed talent at Troy and Tulane thus far.
Stoops has been fun....but his run is over and we're falling back to Joker-ish levels before our very eyes.
How stoops handled last year was telling. Then Coen bolts. Maybe he would have been gone anyway, but the entire off season hasn't really given off the vibes that he is fired up to coach here. You can't hide that,and it'll destroy what he had build before.
It’s time to thank Stoops and move on. I would obviously be excited for Sumrall. Golesh’s stock is going to be up after tonight.
He’s got Ohio ties. High School in Dublin. I think recruiting Ohio is a must. Wouldn’t want to go away from that tactic.

Jon Sumrall played at UK and love the name on the uniform. Sound like some other coach we know? If you have followed Sumralls' brief coaching career you will see his is ONE of the top young coaches in the country. Personally I think it is always better to have a coach who has strong ties to the program if it's possible!

Same logic that used to say we could only recruit in state. Could care less, we need to hire someone that can score with anyone and is the best available. Who is UT's offensive coordinator?

I do wonder, in the age of NIL where each fanbase has to muster the funds to support the various athletics programs, if a school like Kentucky can realistically put together high level teams in both football and basketball. Pope has reenergized fans and donors for basketball, I think Sumrall (and others) would do the same for football, but it's close to a zero sum game in terms of NIL money.
Comment implied that USF had some kind of super-duper passing game and that's not true. And when Bama stopped killing themselves with mistakes they blew the game open.
I believe it may be time to consider a young coach like Sumrall. With some of Stoops' comments about NIL alluding to him not wanting to be a part of the long game in the sport, nearly leaving for Texas A&M before the hiring was vetoed. IMO, the ceiling has been hit for the Stoops Era of Kentucky Football and doubt they will reach it again without some serious changes with the way things operate around here. With the league being tougher since Texas & OU come in, winning 10 games again is a pipe dream with the current state of the program. We need someone who wants to be here and up for the challenges of the landscape College Football is today. Doesn't mean CMS hasn't done well for Kentucky Football. Hell, even Saban knew when it was time to get out.

It's time to take both of our programs back. We have basketball back, football is next. Stoops has hit his ceiling here. He also tried to leave, let's make it easy for him.
Sumrall needs to be the hire. Hire him soon. Let's get our football program back now as well.
