Strowbridge Announcing Final Decision Tomorrow, Monday

I can't understand why anyone would go to UNC with them staring down the barrel of serious penalty.

So previously he's been playing like he's committed but tomorrow he'll REALLY be committed? So he'll commit to being committed, right?

I can't either. Gene Chizik was a good hire for them. He's probably headed to UNC.

Most people think Strowbridge will flip to UNC. To keep him, our coaches may have to flip him back the other way, which is a tough deal at the last minute.

So you are one of those few that still think that unc is going to be penalized

Only the football program.

I am one that is still very positive on this class after reading bio's of the 15 commits. The flips are not good by any means, but I believe stoops will add to the 15 and be a very strong class. That being said, stowbridge is one that I REALLY want to hang on to. Very strong player.

ok back to 15. Stoops has his work cut out for him this year. A lot like his first year.

Did he make an announcement with the cap and all that jazz Before? Maybe he just decided to participate in that pageantry.

Maybe he flips. Then again, since he has been on the fence, maybe we lined up his replacement and told him we wanted everyone else told off publicly prior to NSD. This is possible. It could even involve a threat to commit his ride at a different position.

Point is, with all the instability in the class late in the game, the last thing you want to do is waste a ride because you waited on someone to "go solid". Do your biz, or get off the pot needs to be the rule for all but elite prospects BEFORE NSD.

Right now, I'd rather announce a decommit and commitment on the same day, than wait to be spurned, and basically stand empty handed.

Rest assured, this staff is working OT and is going to deliver a better class than a lot of bridge cases on here are going to believe.

Strangely enough, that Crystal Ball thingy only lists him with 10% of the picks for UK but calls him a UK commit. 57% UNC.

Since Chizik was hired his commitment was as soft as a babies butt. I'm sure Stoops and Elliot have been trying to keep him but I suspect they were recruiting like he won't be here. JMO.

It must be maddening to try and recruit for football.
That being said, how disrespectful to Coach Stoops to commit then wait until the 12th hour to back away.
I believe he is gone too. But in a classless way.

He probably has been told by the unc administration that the ncaa has decided to penalize UNLV for what unc did.

he's going to UNC. Unless something changes, anyway. It has been confirmed.

For what it is worth I am a lot more impressed with our latest commit than I was him, although he may play a different position and I think Strowbridge was underrated also. I also wouldn't be surprised if our DB commit isn't an upgrade on our DB defector. We will add several recruits, and Lewis alone would take a lot of the sting away. If our next four commits only averaged a 5.6 (Lewis would sure help our average, still averaging a 5.638, and losing Strowbridge would raise that average) then we would gain 300 points and pass UL------and UL is a team we play every year, vital to make them another win for a better bowl next year

Got to love it when kids have been committed to you for months, coaches save a spot, don't recruit the position as hard. And then 2 days before signing day they are going to make a "final decision". We are dealing with the same thing, 2 WR commits our biggest need in the class, 1 has been committed for 2 months and the other for over a year are going to make their "final decision" on signing day, 1 at 6 PM. Dead period, no chance to fill the spot.

I know the early signing period fans will say an early signing period will get rid of this, but it won't, neither of our kids would sign early and your kid committed after the suggested signing, by some, signing day. Pins and needles I guess.

I'd say if you've got a guy committed over a year who wouldn't have signed in August or December either way, you'd be able to cut him loose and go find a replacement. The odds of getting of a high quality replacement with either 5 months or 6 weeks is a lot higher than with zero notice 10 hours after the majority of LOI's will have come in across the country.

the unc football team got in trouble back in the 90's for something. butch comes in and they get in trouble again. now they got a pretty sure fire case of academic fraud and they are acting like its nothing..... geeze. if UK did what unc did under butch, we'd still be under sanctions and if we did what they did with academics, all our teams would be facing the death penalty. i hope he comes to his senses and stays with UK but if he doesn't then i hope they get at least a 4 year bowl ban and 5 scholly reductions over those 4 years. (minimal i would think)

ps, if the ncaa does nothing with this then the power 5 conferences really should leave. the acc and big 10 cannot keep getting passes when the big 12, sec, pac 10 always get nailed for the same stuff they skate on.

I agree it is classless but it goes on all the time and hardly any program is immune to it from either side of the equation. This is true for both football and basketball. Until schools choose to honor another schools 'commitment' and quit trying to woo them away it will never change. In the end, it is all about winning and bringing more money in to the school so it will never change.
