Straight hoops tweets Bridges to UK

I agree but it is clear to me no one knows what he is going to do . But i think regardless we will get either him or Gabriel so it is all good .
No 1 knows what Bridges will do until he tells us himself. Right now all the signs point to MSU. Maybe Izzo gets him. It wasn't just Straight Hoops that said Murray was going to Oregon. It wasn't just Straight Hoops that thought Brown would go somewhere else besides Cal. Many people were wrong. They were wrong about Labissiere too. Recruiting is a strange game, and there are lots of surprises every year. Calipari probably stepped up his recruitment of Gabriel in the last month because he saw Bridges getting squishy. It's likely that Calipari gets either Gabriel or Bridges. But as far as I can see, the big prizes now are Fox and Monk. I still think we get both.

Yeah Fox is the most important recruit and I think he is all but locked up . I would say a SF though is the 2nd biggest recruit .

The fact that Fox has a UK fan at his visit, and they advertised that so heavily makes me think he's the biggest lock. He's ok with everyone knowing it. So he probaly comes off the board first.

I'd be ok with taking Giles first tho

Were all gonna get lots more grey hair this recruiting cycle and those of you that are hair challenged no offense intended[winking]

Both Labissiere and Briscoe committed early to Kentucky last year and most were saying labissiere to Memphis and Briscoe to St. Johns. Most experts and fans were wrong on both of these players last year when they both committed early to UK. It would be nice to get a couple of these players for next year to commit in November. Both Labissiere and Briscoe committed on Thursday, November 13th and most experts were saying Memphis would get Labisssiere and Briscoe to St. Johns.

I understand what you are saying but IMO the big prize is Giles. He is the biggest "difference maker" in the class. Don't get me wrong, Monk and Fox are still huge prizes and I think we have pretty good chances on them.

I don't think Fox is locked up, exactly. He is still taking other visits to ranked programs, but I will be surprised if he goes anywhere else besides Kentucky. Something big would need to change for Fox to go another direction. I think the same about Monk. Will be surprised if Monk isn't on our team. But we won't get a true SF unless Calipari bags Bridges. Gabriel is over 6-9. People can say whatever excites them, but Gabriel is not a true SF. A year ago, people were posting on this board that Towns would play SF. They still don't understand Calipari. Calipari does not play a conventional offensive system, and he doesn'tbcare whether he has a player in each conventional role that other coaches use. He looks at strengths and weaknesses of his players. Kenny Payne teaches our tall guys how to play in the lane, and Calipari teaches our smaller players how to defend in transition. Everything else starts there and leads to a team that can play together and contend. Aside from James Young and MKG, Calipari hasn't had a true SF since he got to Lexington. Even MKG couldn't shoot, but Calipari took advantage of his other strengths. Calipari is the most innovative coach in college basketball.

Different experts have called Fox, Jackson, Monk, Giles the top player in the class. Everyone agrees Monk is 1 of the 2 best scorers in the class, along with Jackson. I will be surprised if Fox or Monk ends up anywhere besides Kentucky. I think Fox will sign with Kentucky in November. Giles is interesting because of his size, skills, and international playing experience. Everyone considers Giles a lock for Duke. I agree Duke is probably the most likely landing spot for Giles, but I don't think Duke has Giles locked up yet. I agree with you that Giles is a difference maker. But I don't agree that Giles is the biggest difference maker in the class. Giles may end up as the best NBA player in the class, but Fox is the biggest difference maker at the college level, and Monk will be a devastating scorer in Calipari's system.

Small Forward is still just a label that people get caught up with.

Miller, MKG, Young, Poythress, and Lyles have all successfully played the 3 spot, though not all of them were "traditional" SFs.

Each of those players had the skill set to play the 3 spot. None of them really had all the skills that we all covet for a SF, but few ever do. We want a SF that can handle like a PG, shoot like a SG, and rebound like a PF. And he better be able to defend the 1-4 spots. And most importantly they must be 6'6 or 6'7. No taller, no shorter. LOL!

This year our 3 will likely be Murray at the 3. And he will be excellent in that spot, despite being too short for the spot, according to most on here. Sure his lack of size will hurt him in some areas, but we can't have it all, most of the time.

Next year, it may be Bridges, Gabriel, Alkins, Simmons, Mulder, or Matthews or some combination of those players at that spot. And we will be fine.

Just my personal feeling, but I think we get too caught up in talking about positions. Sure, we all want a guy at the 3 spot that can do it all, but those guys are rare. That is why we covet Bridges, he seems to be that guy. Still, we will be fine with whoever Cal puts in there. He will have them utilize their strength and try to keep teams from exploiting their weaknesses.

We will be fine.

I think UK's small forward jinx is going to end in 2017. We are positioned well with several of the top SF in the class (other than Porter). We aren't going to miss out on all of them.

I am picking Bridges to go to State and here are the reasons why. If he goes to State, I am right. If he comes to UK, I am happy. Recruiting is easy.
