I have told been told a story by my aunt that has passed away going on a couple years ago. She was not ever into sports even though she worked for and retired from UCLA sports department as a secretary. She told me that John Wooden had a meeting after the Saturday game in the final four with department heads and an investigator from the NCAA. The news was going to break that a Dr in the LA area had been securing top players for Wooden for a very long time and it was going to put his championships in jeopardy! She would go on to say the 2 A was in a difficult position because how far back it ran. Saturday night into Sunday they worked out a deal where Wooden promised to retire and never coach again. I have no proof whatsoever other than my mom’s sister saying this. I remember Bill Walton saying in his book that his first year with Portland that he took a pay cut than what he made in college? What do you guys think ? Would the NCAA aid in keeping this secret. ? The 75 Game is the only game in my fandom that I said the refs was not going to let us win after Wooden announced his retirement ?
