Stoops has flaws major ones but more often then not he is getting players winning games and making bowls. This is KY Football and he has built a program from the ground up enjoy our 10 win seasons and 8 wins too it’s not that easy in the SEC no matter what you think.
I think so too. He did amazing things at UK. Two 10 win seasons. Made UK very respectable.
But there are still games where the team looks unprepared and unmotivated. Recruiting has to improve to even think about contending for the SEC title.
Kentucky has been playing SEC FOOTBALL since 1933. We have finished .500 or better in the SEC 24 times in that time span and if we take care of business against Vandy it will be 25. Of those 25 times Stoops will have 5 of those. I think he’s done a remarkable job. That’s coming from someone who doesn’t necessarily like his preferred style of play and thought there was no way anyone could win at Kentucky playing that style.
This. Today was a disaster in many ways, but a win is a win is a win. Add that it's an SEC road win and we should be happy. We used to lose these types of games. Cherish the wins.
Did you give Stoops credit for hiring Brad White after Tennessee hung 44 on us? I didn't think so
I believe your right but I don’t want that and I know you don’t either. It’s been fun over the past 4-5 years but this time s where we are, it’s as far as it goes. I love and appreciate CMS but we have reached the pinnacle I think.
Agreed. It’s not easy. I just hate that we do it with a few cupcakes.
If you’re watching the Tennessee-Georgia game then something you need to realize is we are never going to beat those two teams. Whole other league right there. We are not competing with either in the next 25 years
Having a .500 or better record against SEC competition is hard. I'm also a fan of #7 TCU, and they couldn't do it. Winning at The Swamp ain't that easy still, ask #14 Utah. Winning in COMO isn't that easy, UGA barely got out of there alive. Shutting down Mike Leach's offense isn't easy.

UT has risen up obviously. If they can do it there is hope.
I don’t even care if he plateaus and just plays sound football. We look like such a damn wreck.
Good thing the UofL game is at Home.... I'm not entirely sure that game won't be a tough one.
If UK fans are cool with 8-9 wins every year with no chance at an SEC title than fine... I get it. It's a vast improvement from where we were with Joker.
If they do ever decide to move on from Stoops they will have to pony up the cash to get an elite HC... OK and Texas is coming and it's going to be even tougher.

Best summary I’ve seen of the game so far.
Stoops drives me crazy but I still love our coach
and please enlighten us as to who should be hired to replace Stoops??

Just because that was worse doesn’t make this good.
We couldn't go 10 and 2 in 2018 or 2021. Not sure why people think we will when the sec goes to 18 teams and probably 9 conference games in 2024 and beyond and there are easily 9 to 10 teams out recruiting us every season.

Today in the first half it was 3rd and 10 in the Mizzou end. Shot of Stoops on the sideline and he says something to the bearded guy on his right. Obviously I don’t know what he said, but I imagined it was get the fg team ready to go in.
They run into the line for 1 yard then go for the fg. Was missed but even if made it was Stoops in a nutshell. He will never be an offensive minded coach which in today’s game is a limiting factor.
Hopefully they get to 8-4. If he had a different philosophy that would be 10-2. And so it goes.

Stoops has us to the point where we consistently beat Vandy, Mizzou, SC, UL, MAC teams.
We are 50/50 or so vs Ole Miss, MSST, UF, Arky.
The next step IMO is to add some more wins vs UT, steal one vs Georgia, win a road game in the west.
I don’t see enough in Stoops to get us there. He has done a great job to get us where we are though.

We still get beat like a rented mule when we play the top SEC teams. I’d like to see that change and his incompetent game coaching. After watching our games you can watch other teams that have top notch coaches and it’s drastically different the way they manage games.
I don’t disagree. I guess what should’ve said was we have a 50% chance at winning those games now. We’ve moved them out of the automatic loss column. Not that we have a 0.5 record against them in Stoops’ tenure.
Don’t hold your breath for some big next step. It’s year 10 it’s his program. He’s put us in a great spot but we have limitations. A solid program that jumps up and goes 9-3 every few years is pretty great here imo. But I doubt he ever beats UGA or plays for a conference championship. Just what it is. If recruiting doesn’t pick up, the current standard might be harder to reach too though.
The next step isn’t winning the east. Y’all trying to run before you walk. It’s gonna take baby steps. The next step in my mind would be starting and finishing a season ranked. I’ll include a top 15 recruiting class. Those are the next steps. This won’t happen overnight

A lot of people in threads recently talking about Stoops being maxed out. That’s fine if you think that but why do you think winning the East will be an easy next step? Who is going to waltz into UK and do much better than Stoops has, especially if you acknowledge that we (UK) have a giant recruiting disadvantage in homegrown talent compared to most any other SEC team?
This is how stoops has fooled most of our idiot fan base. Win games against 3 stinky teams + Vandy + Mizzou + UL + Miss St or USCjr = 7+ wins and a stoops extension. Our fan base is so happy to be mediocre!
