Back to back disappointing seasons....and I'm strugglign to see how next year will be a step up (I can see us being not bowl eligible to be honest)....so that along with 9M a year....I just don't see a SEC or Big10 team coming after h im. Maybe Iowa after Ferentz leaves and Stoops fits their mold.... but I just don't see any other school in those leagues vying for him. and I don't see ACC, Pac, B12 being able to afford him.

So I think TAM had a “soft opening” with this. They were indeed serious to some degree. But they floated it out to gauge reactions. It was not a great reaction from their supporters. What happened was the booster who bought out Jimbo didn't like the Stoops hire and told the AD he was going to be paying Stoops. That simple. Stoops was ready to go and take White, Coen, and Walker with him. How are the players gonna feel about this? I think we see a mass exodus this off-season.

I hope so, but Stoops saw the reaction another fanbase had about the thought of him being their head coach. Maybe he’s going to want to stay in the place that will celebrate 6 wins.
Well in 2 years we should have a better idea of sumrall, coen ECT.. IDK it kinda sucks, but if coen is what I think he might be, he could surprise next year. But the oline needs to be fixed. We have not developed our own since schlarman and it shows. Having to keep TE to block puts a lot of pressure on WR ECT.
Also we need a pass rush. If he can develop a edge rush, with silver walker ECT the defense could really improve!

Barnhart is responsible for hiring Brooks and Stoops - two of the more successful coaches at UK in our lifetimes.
But regardless - you can rest easy because Stoops is staying and Barnhart doesn’t have to hire a new coach.
I doubt he leaves any time soon unless he just gets an offer too good to refuse. He has it made at UK. If he makes a toilet bowl here half the fan base will practically worship the guy.
He also hired joker and on the basketball side he has mortally wounded it. And btw don’t get too excited with all this mediocrity stoops is decent but Barney could have done better

I have no idea why you guys are so eager to jump on the coaching merry-go-round with no better than around 20-25% chance at improving. It makes no program sense.
Cal did what he was supposed to do this offseason, hired Welch, and the program appears to be back on track. The lifetime contract isnt bad if Cal is winning - and this team will win big. They are fun to watch as well.
The only thing that I don’t like is the current buyout of Stoops contract. But that’s what happens when you coach at a place for 11 years with some unprecedented success at a normal football doormat. Stoops isn’t overpaid though - he has been here 11 years. If Barnhart doesn’t pay Stoops money after 2018 and 2021 then our fans aren’t happy with him for that - so it’s be damned if he does, be damned if he doesn’t.
Stoops was the one trying to leave town but was gonna get lynched in college Station upon his plane landing. Not the fans fault.

Brooks had a hand in Joker and Stoops is a lot better than mediocre. He's averaging 7 wins per season. No one has done that here other than Bear. Stoops makes tons of mistakes with his assistant hires but thats his worst flaw.
If he could fix that single issue we'd average at least 1 more win per season. I'm still waiting on a candidate we could get who could recruit as well or better than Stoops and has the proven background to win at this level.

Is our fb program better than ever? I mean we’ve had a couple disappointing back to back seasons. Teams with losing records go to bowls now. We don’t suck but the trajectory isn’t what it needs to be. And bb. Our team beating Marshall? Please. They almost lost to st joes. I’m not buying any hype is have to see them win big games. It’s a curious study.
In all of these threads we see the typical smears that Stoops’ ceiling is “7 or 8” wins, when he’s had ten wins twice, and smearing a fan base “happy with 6 wins and the toilet bowl,” though we haven’t dipped to a mere six wins since 2015, damn near a decade.
We have two tall, nationally ranked QB’s committed for the next two classes, and came close to pissing away whatever momentum Coen’s recruiting has developed, and likely a fair share of the ‘23 Class and any number of players who might have followed Stoops.
I guess the excitement of the unknown possibility of picking the next young Urban Meyer is the driving force . . . likely a 1 or 2 percent possibility, given the world of college football.
But hey, the wrist sliters are consistent: Stoops is terrible, the fan base is terrible, Barnhart is terrible, it was terrible Stoops was leaving, and it’s terrible Stoops is staying.
