Quick take on Stoops

I don't like the punt either but we stopped their run all night. We even forced a fumble but couldn't get it. If they're willing to risk putting the ball in the air in those situations....thats really high risk and really tough. Kudos to them for taking the risk and it paying off.

All that said i don't understand the hate and vitriol i see on the board. Great effort and great game against the best team and program. One bounce here or there and we win that game.

It WAS the right call for reasons I mentioned in my previous post. How would you have felt having 9 seconds needing to score ant least 4 instead of 2?

That’s what you would’ve signed up for by going for it on that play. Kentucky would NOT have gotten it and Georgia would’ve at least gotten a FG
Metrics say you are wrong 34% chance if we go for it to win. 12% chance of winning if we punt. Even if georgia scores a td we could still tie with a lot more time on the clock.

Great game by the team last night. Unfortunately, history shows Stoops and company won’t be able to maintain that level of energy and execution going forward. Hard to get a moral victory from this because you know the $hit show that is coming..
That's what prevents me from feeling better about last night's game. Stoops has a proven track record of getting us to play really great 1-3 games a year. We also put up a complete stinker 1-3 times a year. Every season. He's just completely inconsistent. Wouldn't be surprised if we struggle with Ohio next week, look competent against Ol Miss and get blown out by Vandy. I have no idea why this happens but it certainly does.

The punt wasn't the only bad call in that series; anybody with a functioning brain should have considered it a 4 down situation all the way and if you look at it that way you don't try to complete a 30 yard pass on 2nd and 8. They literally never thought about what they'd do on 4th down UNTIL 4TH DOWN.

Resume builder off a loss??? 😂😂😂

Only UK football fans are happy with last night.

1 point or 100, it’s a loss.

This whole thread is embarrassing. Mediocre fans happy with mediocre results. Oh, the joys of a UK football fan.
Exactly, 10 years from now when we still haven't beaten Georgia, we'll look back on this game and say but we played them tough in 2024. Stoops has changed a lot about Kentucky football, but the expectation we'll find a way to lose isn't one of them. When he kicked the field goal at the end of the half, having watched Kentucky for over 50 years, I knew we would find a way to lose.

Just watching his body language I don’t think he wants to be here anymore or maybe finished with coaching in general. He’s talked about the struggles with NIL, tried to bolt to school with better resources, and not making smart in-game decisions. No matter how this season goes it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him negotiate a buyout and retire.
Barney gzve him the contract. Point your bad mouthing in the right direction

Re the punt: That's old school SEC football, not saying it's right or wrong but it's how SEC football used to be played. Here's the thought: 3 minutes, you have all your TOs, ball at midfield, down one. Your defense has played very well all night, kick them deep, continue your D, use your TOs, force them to punt, get the ball back around midfield, maybe one TO left and 2 minutes, maybe slightly less on the clock. You're probably going to need 20 yards from your O, get that and kick a late, game winning FG. In the perfect world that's how it works. GA crossed that plan up by hitting a huge pass, give them credit. They aren't NCs and #1 for no reason. What if he throws an incompletion, what if the WR drops the pass, what if he throws an INT, what if he gets sacked, what if he gets sacked, fumbles and UK recovers? All of that COULD have happened but they made the play.

Do you realize UK has forced something like 6 straight fumbles but hasn't recovered any of them? Don't think I've ever seen that. Hell, law of averages is you get at least ONE of them!

As for the hate...think it comes from 2 places: Stoops makes more in a year than many here will make in their lifetime. People resent it but let's see them give it a whirl. Also, think gamblers are tanking too. People are foolishly losing their skrilla, must be somebody else's fault...try the coach.

I agree the balls to throw it late got us. Like you said huge risk. One drop or bad throw and we are in good shape. They just pulled it off even though we forced the fumble we desperately needed, just couldn't get it.

The bounces against us on these fumbles are crazy.

I will to the point Im not ignorant enough to get on here and dis the coach after a great overall performance tonight.
Perspective-get you some.

But ignorant enough to carry the water for a coach who refused to make gutsy calls at the end of the 2nd and 4th quarters. Great overall performance with an L in the scoring column is still an L. Sitting pretty at 1-2 (0-2). Great season so far

So, if two teams were 10-2 at the end of the seasons with one playoff spot on the line and team 1 lost both games by one and team two lost one game by one pt and the other by 100, which team gets in?
There may be a little difference..

Difference being we are nowhere near playoff contention. So 1 pt Vs 100 is negligible in terms of what garbage bowl we may be eligible for. Assuming we win 6

Perhaps, but the illustration is not regarding ky. It just points out the obvious difference.
I read in one of the posts that it will be the toilet bowl sponsored by dude wipes.

Clearly not regarding UK. So the point is moot there. The bowl projection is more accurate, though. Unfortunate for those of us that want something more.

The point stands. The difference has been clearly illustrated in post 51. One point is better than a 100 point loss.
