It all depends on player leadership. In too many years, stoops' teams limp into the bye on a disappointing loss and a downward trajectory. Guys go home and get all the voices in their ear. Then come back and deliver another sh1t performance or two before the staff and other players get people back in line to finish strong.
That midseason lull is something stoops is yet to overcome and there really is no explanation other than just mental/emotional fatigue/weakness from key guys. It happens most every year and he must fix it for us to get over the hump.
There are only maybe a few examples in his entire tenure and it's when our absolute best players were also dominant leaders. This year's team doesn't yet have that. Instead we have mostly quiet guys and the loud ones are more flashy than strong. So we'll have to see where leadership comes from....if it does at all.
