There wouldn't be many surprises either direction, outside of 2018/19. With 17 former 4/5 Star players, that team should never have competed with the likes of Florida, Miss. State, USCe or Penn State.

I love the recruiting rankings, but the portal is complicating things. Mizzou has averaged just ahead of Vandy, for 13th in recruiting rankings in the SEC, but has some transfer talent that has come through for them.

Good point. I’m fully on board that Stoops isn’t earning his salary the past few seasons, but I’d bet his teams have performed about where you’d expect based on talent alone (on paper talent, I know).

Regardless, something needs to change for next year and the man has to find a way to get the team back to being a great defense while increasing offensive output.

I am not throwing stones, cause we have our own problems. But we always play Clemson, and usually one other P5 opponent as part of our 4 non conference games. You play Louisville and three cupcakes. Louisville has had some very down years. Clemson has not lately. Stoops has been there 11 years. Of the win totals posted by OP, 33 have been against the Akrons of the world. If your barometer for success is making sure you don’t lose to those type of schools ever again, then he might be your man. He’s had 11 years, so is he really elevating your program. I think I can speak for most schools in the league, when I say, everyone hopes Stoops is at Kentucky for a long time.

We may be saying this about Beamer one day…….but I’m just saying.

Looking back, 2013 and 2014 were pretty hideous years, but 2014 was far more competitive than it should have been.

No way we should have knocked off USCe at home based on talent level and maturity. Spurrier had 30 (plus) former 4 and 5 Star players on that team. We had, maybe, 14 of them . . . 10 having been signed in the true frosh class of '14.
