Just tuning in. Maybe someone can provide more details. Stoops just stated UK football is absolutely ready for this new era of college sports. Matt is really pressing him on this, as he should.

States Eddie Gran is our GM. Just not in title , handles a lot of the fundraising and day to day ops. Matt asking about clock manager, Stoops states he does have someone telling him in his ear on game day. States he goes by analytics.

Feed cut off couple times. Closed saying he hates an a**kicking. Said staff was in the office Sunday after Louisville game and had been working hard ever since. Stated it had to start with re-building the roster. Now it’s about demanding excellence and hard work.

Wanted to continue to play Louisville and I would agree I think if the SEC goes to 9 games they should just play and extra game

I love Eddie Gran, probably more than any poster, but this does not seem like a role where he is a good fit. They need a data/technology driven person to pull it off.

Yeah, I struggled with that part too. And I'm with you on Eddie. He's one of my favorites. I guess I just hope he's got a bunch of nerds that report to him, but call me skeptical. Btw, that's not Eddie's fault. When I listen to Stoops talk, I just hear a hard-headed guy that's trying not to sound hard-headed. He's re-worked the roster. But our QBs are Calzeda and Boley. I can't imagine that being much better than last year. Maybe, maybe not. Sheesh, our line was just so bad. Idk. Is what it is. I think he either wins or he's gone. I honestly think it's that simple. Nobody really seems to be buying what he's selling right now.

Agree. Plus the other side of that role which is raising money. Hes a guy that prefers the woods and the country to the country club. Not anything at all wrong with that, but it isnt what that role needs.

Hope we are wrong.

Lipstick on a pig type interview. If you want to buy in the program is going to change, I guess you liked what you heard. But in reality, it didn’t leave any warm or fuzzy feelings. He stated no one went rogue last year and I thought “my man, you had a player go up to the concession stand during a game you were being blown out in and get a hot dog. How is that not going rogue?”

Felt very Cal-ish type of interview. Even said positions were earned not given.

Yeesh

Without a doubt, the VERY FIRST thought that went in my head when he said that. I'm not sure what I expected him to say, but this wasn't it. Or maybe it was.

Yeah Gran is an endearing guy in his way but when he was a staff coach the guys he personally recruited too often turned out to just be warm bodies. Thinking he’s in charge of putting personnel together doesn’t excite me.

Stoops is cooked he's only pretending to give a shit.

Insane we still have him but that's on Mitch, just like everything else we've dealt with lately.

Mitch has a Forrest Gump IQ you can see it in his damn face. Really look at him before you challenge me on this.

He basically checked out last year, if you couldn’t see it then you’re one of the homers who still supported Joker until the very end. I personally don’t think he will recover, it’s hard to reestablish yourself after the troops pick up on your empathy but maybe there’s a modicum of hope with the roster turnover. I’m gonna just take the wait and see approach, we either look competitive this year or I don’t think he’ll be back in 2026.

Didn’t Forrest Gump play for Alabama, receive a war medal, beat the Chinese in ping pong, start a multi million dollar business, and pull Robin Wright Penn?

Kind of like MB saved the SEC’s face by getting Bama in over FSU. Got Cal to boogy without paying a dime saving multi millions in salary and golden parachute retirement. Made the best combo of hires in college sports in Brooks and Pope. We could very well be on the path to having men and women make noise late in playoffs in the not so distant future.

Mitch is not stupid by any stretch, but he cant develop a single head coach contract that has not bitten us in the ass.

Tell us one he didn't mess up? Don't say Cal, because if Cal were more bright we would still owe him 30+ million.

I think going for mostly mid major stars in the portal will prove to be a better strategy going forward. I am glad we are trying a new direction with the roster. It gives us a chance to have a better football team. Will it make a difference with the coaching that now they have so many star type players dotted all over the roster even if it is proven mid major talent and experience? Having just about the toughest schedule in the country makes it tough to move the bar much on wins and losses but with several very tough games at home at least that gives us a chance for a couple of upsets. Should be interesting to see the revamped roster with so much more size, experience and proven veterans.

Oh trust me, he's stupid. And why are you simultaneously attacking and defending him? It's okay to just say it - he is VERY poor at his job.

He didn't convince Cal to leave. Fan hatred did.

And it would be beyond absurd to give credit to Mitch for convincing Cal to leave under ANY circumstances when Mitch was the one who gave him the lifetime contract in the first place!

I'm sure you must be trolling. But if you're not, hey, I guess there's someone who has every opinion in this world.

Also, shout out to @sambowieshin since my previous post was so hysterical.

Based on the Pro Day numbers several of our guys posted (in another thread that I started), I'd say the S&C staff sucked last year (and maybe more years prior). I mean, we gave a ton of snaps to Ox who benched 225 only 13 times. Childress did 16. Eli and Marques Cox did 25 and JJ did 26. I thought when Ox came to UK as a FR, he was some sort of workout monster/gym rat. Turns out our S&C staff couldn't get him to do the work and it showed in his performance. Rybka did 20 reps. While not completely embarrassing, that's far below what a SR who's been in the program several years should do. He's a DL for heaven's sake - aren't they supposed to be among the strongest guys on the team? I know that BP doesn't correlate to football but, if your DL are going against 300+ lb OL play after play and they're not really strong, you have a run defense much like ours in SEC play last year - can you say wet paper towel?

Stoops really lost this team last year (and perhaps the year prior, also). If he's lit a fire under the staff's and team's a$$ this past offseason, we may regain respectability. The toughness of the schedule precludes more than maybe 6 wins (imo), but 6 wins and a win in a 'who cares' bowl would certainly indicate that the program has a chance of recovering lost ground. Less than 6 wins and I think he bows out or gets asked to bow out.

This looks like those first few years of Stoops but I fear we look more like a spin class now.

Stoops is transparent, which is refreshing in this business. I respect him for standing up and taking all the bullets. Stoops says he knows what needs to be done now, and I believe him. As far as it goes, you have to respect this portal class. But the only real question now is whether he can actually do it on the field. I remain optimistic, because that is my baseline. But we have to walk the walk, and spring practice is just the opening salvo.

He defended our Oline coach, acted as if he's the best oline coach out there

That was frustrating
Defended a man that stabbed the school in the back while on a recruiting trip. Went to Alabama and sucked there and yet here we are.
