The beginning of the end for him. lost faith in this guy…
What coach is going to take players that demand NIL but do VERY LITTLE in return to earn it. The players here have it made!!! They make MULTIPLE mistakes and are NEVER held accountable!!!I believe so too. I know it won’t be easy to come up with $55 million but I expect to lose any player with a pulse to the transfer portal.
Although he’s been terrible this year, I doubt Coen comes back. He’s still young and no way is he gonna jeopardize his name and the rest of his career under Stoops.
I also expect the attendance to plummet next year. That’ll be the end. Unfortunately for this next year we have to go through the motions.
Hell, I’ve seen people suggest we should make him head coach.Although he’s been terrible this year, I doubt Coen comes back.
I said “any player with a pulse.”What coach is going to take players that demand NIL but do VERY LITTLE in return to earn it. The players here have it made!!! They make MULTIPLE mistakes and a NEVER held accountable!!!
What player would want to leave here when they get paid NO MATTER how HORRIBLY they play?
Not sure attendance will plummet as it should but if it did would certainly be the first sign of his pending departure. He really needs gone yesterday.I believe so too. I know it won’t be easy to come up with $55 million but I expect to lose any player with a pulse to the transfer portal.

Not impossible but these are all worst case scenarios. Another outcome is we beat UofL then the KSR dummies hype next year’s team for eight months in exchange for access and people buy back in for 2024.I believe so too. I really do believe the first two will happen. Parents of current players are pissed right now and letting it be known. Not impossible but these are all worst case scenarios. Another outcome is we beat UofL then the KSR dummies hype next year’s team for eight months in exchange for access and people buy back in for 2024.
Where is he going he isn’t gonna leave this cake job he has right nowThe beginning of the end for him. lost faith in this guy…
I agree he is safe for now, but he won’t get three more seasons of thisAs much as I’d like a fresh start, we’re 2-3 years away from Stoops getting canned. At the absolute earliest. Outside of a Michigan like scandal, he’s safe for a while.
For being the winningest coach in our history (it feels a little like UofL fans bragging about wins against their crap schedule but I'll still give it to him) he has earned another year to prove it.I agree he is safe for now, but he won’t get three more seasons of this
I think you have hit the nail pretty close to the head. I have been a Stoops supporter for some time but what we have seen over the past few weeks has changed my mind. We need to roll the dice and change directions. Stoops has run his course here, it is time we move on. Maybe get the Troy coach if we can(before someone else does)Tend to agree.....Stoops has been able to re-tool the offensive staff for 3 years and it's a mess again. The main thing holding on was if the right hires were made to fix that side of the ball, we'd be fine. Another year of poor offense and now the defense is cratering.
8.6M per year thru 2031 (and I think the buyout is 75 percent is owed if fired)....that is alot of change to come up with. My bet is he'll keep his job this year and we look to have even worse team next year and he'll be bought out is how I can see the trajectory.
Before I even talk of Stoops gone...you can't allow Mitch to make the decisions. He needs to go first as his lifetime contract nonsense is large part of this fiasco.
If social media is any indication of the fanbase in general (and it is) then I fully expect a decline in attendance and overall interest in the program. Even the media is piling on, it’s not there yet but we’re approaching Jokeresque levels of concern. If Cal makes a ff push (I hope we do) then you’re going to see a lot of people lose interest in our boring ass style of football and aren’t going to spend their money supporting it. JMO.Not sure attendance will plummet as it should but if it did would certainly be the first sign of his pending departure. He really needs gone yesterday.
Unfortunately UK just doesn't do things that way. Look at all our coaches who have been fired; it always happens at least a couple of years after the fans know it's coming.MSU just canned a coach after 10 games because they saw long-term it wasn't going to work.
This is two straight years of horrid football. Have we seen anything to say it will get better? If anything, it's going in the wrong direction quickly.
He has a HUGE buyout and UK doesn't have the donors to pay it like Texas A&M does. Barnhart has tied Stoops to his hip and UK's for the next 5 years.Wait till stoops gets his ass handed to him next week. There will be no doubt he is on the hot seat and lost the fans. I predict he gets one more year, the fans revolt and bernhardt is forced to make a move. This program has gone downhill fast.
I believe it will. I think season tix will easily drop by 10k or more. It think we will see an awful lot of empties in CWS next season. Not sure attendance will plummet as it should but if it did would certainly be the first sign of his pending departure. He really needs gone yesterday.
True. Look at the women’s basketball coach. She will probably be around next year too after another dismal season.Unfortunately UK just doesn't do things that way. Look at all our coaches who have been fired; it always happens at least a couple of years after the fans know it's coming.
I believe this as well. Like it or not, both Stoops and Cal have all the power.Stoops has 0 expectations. He is safe as can be.
Cal has the weight of the world expectations and hasn't been canned.
That’s a good point. UK could certainly improve in handing out contracts.True. Look at the women’s basketball coach. She will probably be around next year too after another dismal season.
One of the best, most accurate posts ever.I kinda see it going down like this…
We pick up a QB in the portal.
We buy into the hype it’s the next Joe Montana.
We all get on message boards predicting a 10/2 win season.
KSR talks about how great the team looks. We all get hyped!
We start out 5-0
We finish 6-6.
We all end up back here talking about we need a change.
What was the definition of insanity again?
As much as a lot of us want to Mitch gone — it’s not happening unless Eli Cap leaves and we hire a President who actually cares about athletics. Mitch won him over a long, long time ago.Tend to agree.....Stoops has been able to re-tool the offensive staff for 3 years and it's a mess again. Just wish he would stop lying and "honestly" have a CTJ moment about changing his offensive philosophy...The beginning of the end for him. lost faith in this guy…
I don’t think so, winning is going to be even harder moving forward and more important as the ncaa becomes less and less relevant …. we will see I guess and as you said he has earned a shot to make changes soFor being the winningest coach in our history (it feels a little like UofL fans bragging about wins against their crap schedule but I'll still give it to him) he has earned another year to prove it.
Mitch will probably give him TWO more bad years though. It won't get better. And then, with alarmingly diminishing attendance, it will finally end one way or the other.
When is LaFrentz retiring @lowa?Where is he going he isn’t gonna leave this cake job he has right now
Definitely cannot allow Mitch to make the next football hire. We'll end up with a super conservative and boring style again, and most of us don't want that. We need someone who can do more with less and put points on the board.Tend to agree.....Stoops has been able to re-tool the offensive staff for 3 years and it's a mess again. The main thing holding on was if the right hires were made to fix that side of the ball, we'd be fine. Another year of poor offense and now the defense is cratering.

Not apples to apples unfortunately. Much cheaper to get out of than our situation.MSU just canned a coach after 10 games because they saw long-term it wasn't going to work.
