Mentioned Jefferson, Smoke and McClain by name, said 'RB by committee', etc. but made no mention of Lavell Wright. Is that a case of unintentional omission or is LV not really in the rotation? From what little I've seen, it appears that he brings as much to the table as Smoke and McClain. Is there something I'm missing? Is he not getting many reps in practice, not making plays, fumbling, what? Any insights?

Like everyone, I wish CRod was not dealing with this. It might be coming, but Kentucky has not actually announced a suspension. The news is coming from clickbait sports radio. Let's see what Mark Stoops says.

Would CRod be missed? He is the best returning running back in the SEC. So, yes. But the only game that could be affected is Kentucky-Florida on Sept. 10 in Gainesville. I live a 2 hour drive from Gainesville and have tickets. Can we still win it? Yes, as long as our offensive line plays well.

Jefferson and Wright are very good players. On a given Saturday, Smoke or McClain can post a good game. The offensive line, balance in the offense, and Coach Scan are the keys.

After reading everything Mark Stoops and Coach Scan said in the last 2 weeks, Keaton Upshaw, Izayah Cummings, Deondre Buford, and JJ Weaver will be critical to beating Florida. If Kentucky's defense contains Anthony Richardson, that will be half the battle right there. If we don't, then CRod's absence might not matter. This is a game where veteran linebackers and a deep defensive line give us a leg up.

Cummings is a difference-maker.

Have not heard Wright’s name mentioned very often. Only just heard Drennen’s name when Levis was specifically asked yesterday.
Evidence we've seen on Wright has been sparse, couple of mop up games. Think what they may be looking at is Smoke, while not a feature back, is a decent enough blocker/receiver. McClain seems to be a good enough receiver out of the backfield. Maybe Wright is a little behind in those areas right now. Anxious to see Jefferson, the guy has been a major producer everywhere he's played.

He’s a RS Freshmen. He’ll get his shot eventually.

I understand he was a little dinged up and missed a few days of practice putting him a little behind. I wouldn't worry about it. Wright gained some good weight in the offseason and looks great IMO. He'll be a big asset this year.

We can assume nobody will say it, but everyone is thinking about Florida. They will not look past Miami, but they have to know Florida makes or breaks the first half of the season. While preparing for Miami, they will put in some material for Florida. My suspicion would be that the coaches are saying Jefferson, Smoke, and McClain will be used against Miami, then will have the straightest path toward playing in Gainesville after that. It does not mean Wright and Drennen will not see action in September. It just insinuates that the other three have been better so far in practice.
