Star LSU wide reciever placed almost 9,000 bets, some on his own games

The worry isn't getting in the hole to online betting sites. The worry in the 70's, 80's, 90's wasn't getting in the hole to casinos.

The worry is getting in the hole to people who give you money, loans, that you use to place bets at casinos (then) or online sites (now). NFL or MLB wasn't concerned Harrah's or Bally's or MGM would own a players gambling debts. They didn't want their players to owe money to the people who gave them the money to place bets at the casinos. The kind of people (organizations, we can say) who would ask the players to pay back by doing certain actions in games

Get used to this news. Like Iowa & Iowa St last summer. Now that sports gambling is a phone app click away nationwide, the stories of college players getting caught betting is only gonna dramatically increase.

And before anyone says "so! He's an adult! It is legal for everyone else!" Sorry, rules are rules.

Every college athlete, every pro athlete has it preached to them by speakers and team officials that they cannot bet. At all. On anything. Signs are up in every college locker room across the country. They all know they can't do it. Why, because they get into holes, then they are asked to help make this Saturdays game a little closer than expected.
And Pete Rose got banished from the professional baseball elites because of this.

The fact that he gambled doesn't bother me too much. The fact that he places over 9000 bets is concerning. Now you're getting into addiction/problem category........and possibly the reason why he went in the 6th rd.

9000 bets placed is pretty strong. I'm guessing he went 6th round because he didn't hit on over 70% of his bets.

The illegal part for was he wasnt 21 when he made the bets. He used false names to do it. That is why he was arrested. Says he made 500k

Frickin hilarious. Kid figures out how to gamble because the system does nothing to fact check who gambles. Now he'll go to prison because he's made money. Put me on that jury. Fkrs who let him gamble should be the ones going to jail.

It should NOT be possible for online betting of any kind to allow someone under legal age to gamble. Unless he forged a document to do it, I think it's something that the people taking bets should be policing and guaranteeing can't happen.
