Sources Say Live Now (Jaxson decision countdown)

Mahaney was offered. Davis was contacted. Osobor visited Kentucky.

You don't count those guys? Why?
Contact doesn’t equal a miss. Kentucky had to fill a whole roster, they had to cast a wide net, so they contacted a lot of people. Do we consider all of those misses. Davis & osobor wanted a lot of money, and Kentucky was never gonna get into that. Mahaney is maybe miss but they got brea who is similar if not better player.

I just don’t think we can look at it like that right now. Lanier was always going to Tennessee. Home state and they were tampering for over a year. Osobor got insane money from Washington , doesn’t mean anything. Davis was hoodwinked by Calipari to be the next lottery bench player, not suprised. Moheney isn’t even that great to be honest, and Robinson wants to go pro. Really nothing you can do there is he doesn’t return.

I’m far from an excuse maker and if Pope isn’t the guy we’ll find out soon enough, but he’s been on the job a few months and hasn’t had time to catch his wind this recruiting cycle. This season was always going to be tough and the roster came out pretty good all things considering. I wish we had landed a few more too but I think there’s context here that we have to recognize.

Robinson going pro is really stupid but all it was going to take was a team throwing him a guarantee not just of a pick, but FA too, and he looks like he doesn’t want to move again and just go on and take his chances. Nothing Pope can do about a situation like that.

Let pope get his feet on the ground before we begin to eat him.

Regardless of the coach, it appears UK will continue to hang on last minute decisions from fringe NBA guys who should return to college but instead, make terrible decisions.

I wish the above statement was sarcasm.
Oh please it only seems that way because only Kentucky fans are this invested.

He's the fifth highest paid coach. No excuses.

We whiffed on Liam McNeeley, too.

This is pure copium

Please explain.

I simply stated he doesn't have to announce anything, can return to school if the paperwork was submitted by the deadline; can't if it wasn't. Did I get anything wrong there?

No emotion involved from me. Facts only.

We had unlimited playing time to offer, tons of NIL, and the Kentucky brand, with an elite assistant coaching staff.

If we miss on Robinson, we failed to land one top 20 portal transfer.

That's disappointing. I don't have a very high expectation for next year, with or without Robinson, but you have to admit that there's not much buzz with this collection of players. Hopefully they come together like that 2004 team did.

I see next season as a stop gap season. It is what it is.
I’m actually quite impressed with what Pope has done in a short amount of time. He had to play catch up starting from scratch. Even with the portal, that’s tough. He got guys who fit his system and didn’t overpay for guys (Osobor in particular). I like the squad as is. I think some of them are underrated.

Will we win a title next season? Highly unlikely. And landing all those guys you have listed wouldn’t change that. I think most of them were likely overhyped. Time will tell.

The people that are trying to justify these misses by the kids asking for too much NIL money is crazy. Do the fans get their money back that they donated or something if they don't use it? Does it rollover to the following year? Please help me understand this logic! Can UK roll it all over to a ROTH IRA or something?

Yes there is. It’s 2024. College coaches present them with an NIL proposal and they choose to take the deal or roll the dice. If this kid stays in the draft he is choosing G league over UK. Period
If he chooses to stay in the draft after these coaches present him deals what else are they suppose to do? Force him to come here.

Everyone being negative right now are the normal RR trolls. Somehow our fanbase took the 6th man on BYU and are making him out as a make or break player and all of a sudden Pope hire is a mistake and we are going to the NIT. 😆
Gotta be objective for a sec. This team is closer to the NIT than a tournament bid. I hate to see everyone setting themselves up for disappointment. My hope is that this squad will mirror South Carolina last year. Similar situation going in. Similar roster make up

After that statement, you might want to follow a different sport. Basketball isn’t it for ya.

Would be nice if for once we gave "insane money" to land a player of that caliber since, you know, that's what it takes now.
