Something I think everybody needs to accept

I think everybody just needs to get prepared and accept that Kentucky is playing on Wednesday during the SEC tourney. Miss state is in a battle with UK for that 8vs9 spot and they have a melt favorable schedule than we do and are healthy
Yes and to go along with that any win we get from this point forward is a bonus. We are a shell of the team we were a month ago. The injuries are just more than any team can overcome. This team deserves a fairer shake than they are getting, makes me sick(at my age being sick in any form is a bad thing)

If they get butler and Jax back in any capacity I still think they can make the sweet 16

If they can return then I think we can win at least one game in the NCAAT. Earlier in the year I looked forward to the next game, now with 40% of our starters missing and Car at about 75% I dread watching(yeah I know that is a crappy outlook but it is what it is)

I still throughly enjoy watching them, and they can still make a 2nd weekend. The only game I didn’t enjoy atleast a part of it was ole miss.

I'm completely supportive of Pope. He is doing his level best to make this team competitive without the main starters.
In my view, I would let some of the guys like Perry and Noah, even Chandler to get shots up. Those guys can all shoot. Let them. IMO help from those guys making some shots would open up guys like O and Brea open for a drive down the lane or a 3 point attempt.

Pope know his limitations currently, I don't know how we can't try to rely on players who can make some shots. I don't think the competition will focus on those guys.

It is almost impossible to absorb the plethora of injuries we have encountered ... especially this late in the season. GO CATS !!

The future is bright with Pope.A teeny tiny minority will seek company for their non-stop hemming and hawing but the rest of us are enjoying watching the new era unfold. Boy, it sure had gotten stale the last 5+ years of Cal.

I was hoping for the Pope hire before he got here, the hand he has been dealt has sucked from day one. He has done about the best job possible(from putting together a roster to winning 17 games thus far)

Anybody who would lay the results of this season or how it may end up, on Pope is a dork. Pope has far exceeded most of our expectations, and the future with him is bright as ever. Injuries derailed this season plain and simple. Pope has proven he has a solid coaching mind, can make and implement in game adjustments, can draw up plays and has a strong, innovative system. Defense could use some work but I trust Pope recognizes that and will improve in that regard.

I don't know, you do you, but I'm not accepting any negative outcome before it actually happens. I think we'll win every game until we don't.

Huh? Perry Noah and Chandler are all free to fire whenever they want. What are you talking about?

you gotta be a little realistic man. They most likely aren’t beating bama and Auburn with who they got now. And it’s not a bad look for pope he has injuries that are just really hard to overcome

That could very well be true, but I'm not sure that is the only team we are fighting for seeding in the tournament. That just happens to be the team we are currently in line with. However, if you can manage to win tonight, throw Saturday to the wolves, then get Butler back for the game against Oklahoma, and Robinson back by at least the Missouri game, you could end up 4-2 over the last 6 games, putting you at 10-8. Miss. St has one likely loss against Alabama when they visit, and they still have to go to Arkansas, which could be another loss, and remember, we own the tie breaker against them by virtue of the win at their place.

However, there are 3 other teams that also have a chance to be 10-8 or worse, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee. There is even an outside chance that Missouri gets there as well. They won't all get there, but there is a chance 1 or 2 of them do:

Texas A&M (9-4) : Auburn, @ Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee
Ole Miss (8-5): @ Auburn, @ Florida, @ Vanderbilt, Tennessee
Tennessee (8-5): Alabama, @ Texas A&M, @Ole Miss
Missouri (8-4): Alabama, @ Vanderbilt, Kentucky, @ Arkansas
Miss St (7-6): @ Alabama, @ Arkansas

If we were to win tonight, @ Oklahoma, LSU and @ Missouri, to become 10-8, we would own the tie breaker over all of those teams minus Ole Miss, and if it is multiple teams tied we would have the tie-breaker, unless it is just Miss St and Ole Miss. A 3-3 record or less, and there is almost no shot of not playing on Wednesday.

3-3 is the best case scenario right now. It’s just a lot to overcome with all the injuries

I'm not delusional. I understand there is a possibility, even a liklihood that we lose certain games. If we do lose, I deal with it then. Until then I always think we'll win. Even if we're down in a game, I always think we'll come back until it's obvious we won't. I don't know man, just the way I'm wired I guess.

With our injuries, and our schedule, any win will be a good win.

But there are a lot of unknowns. Plus we can get up for an occasional big game (like we did vs UT).
So nothing is locked in. Ok, well we are NOT getting a round bye (top 4 seed).

UT has 5 losses. They also have Bama at home, and tough away games at TAMU and Ole Miss. So they certainly could end up with 8 losses.
Ole Miss has 5 losses. They have UT at home, and tough road games at Auburn and Florida and Vandy. So they could end up with 8, possibly 9 losses.
Miss St has 6 losses. While they do play Bama on the road, their next toughest game is at Arkansas. So they are looking like a 7 loss team, 8 at worst.
Vandy has 7 losses. But their remaining tough games are Missouri and Ole Miss at home, and away games at TAMU and UK. So probably looking at 10-11 losses.

UK sits with 6 losses. We need to finish ahead of 2 of those above (Vandy likely is one). Can we finish ahead of UT or Ole Miss or Miss St? We still have a tough home game w/ Auburn, and away games at Alabama and Missouri. Ole Miss will be tough to finish ahead of because they have the tie breaker on us. That leaves UT and Miss St, both of whom we have the tiebreaker against. That means if we can somehow go 4-2 (unlikely with as injured as we are, but possible) then we could tie one of those two at 10-8 and claim the #8 seed.
But I would give us between a 10% and 25% chance.

I get that but my point is I think it should be THE strategy. Tell them to find decent shots and feed them for however long. Create some additional opportunities for the other guys not try to carry the team tonight.

I never saw a single UK fan give up before a game started when I grew up. I see it all the time now from the new generation. I mean this OP said he has ZERO respect for older people, so I don't know why any of his posts would get any respect. Picture a 20 year old, burn out skate rat telling a 30 year season ticket holder that they know more about UK basketball than an "old geezer". Complete lunacy.

I think you and stout beers need to stop coming to every post I do to virtue signal. That’s all you 2 do every time, you not as much as he does but still. And lastly every post isn’t a attack on UK like both you act like it is.

For somebody who likes to act all high and mighty you sure are a judgmental SOB. That’s your problem, you don’t understand context so you make up your own and then try to pass it off as being some better fan.

The stout beer dipshit you’re responding to is only here to instigate so I wouldn’t have many interactions with him. As for our topic, I never called you delusional, but a good backcourt being out and expecting to win against 2 top 5 teams probably isn’t the best way to go into those games. Thats stout beers group whole problem, they see any post that isn’t outright praise as attacking Kentucky or being a bad fan. When it’s not even in the slightest.

1. I saw no problem with your initial post. I didn’t see at ragebait, I saw it as a fair and balanced summary of where we are with the injury situation.

2. I do think there can be a tendency to go to extremes sometimes in overcriticizing negative takes. I think it is important to recognize the difference between someone who is somewhat pessimistic versus trolls who take joy in our misfortune. As I’ve always said, I think you are a legitimate fan and have somewhat skewed pessimist at times which is ok. God made different types of people with different types of personalities in my eyes.

3. Why does CSB keep saying you don’t respect old people? You don’t have to answer that if you don’t feel comfortable.

Fair, I just really don’t like that stout beer guy man. He is only here to instigate stuff. The only people think was a joke a couple of years ago where I said I didn’t like them, but I have said I was joking multiple times ever since. You I don’t mind interjecting because you can see both sides, stout beer and about 5 other literally think everything is a attack on UK

So simply a joke that was magnified into an attack on your personality? No judgement from me, I like to cut up. God bless

It is very few teams that can lose their starting PG, their backup PG and arguably their best overall player, who is the 3rd string PG, not to mention having one of their best big men struggling with back issues and only playing at about 75% and still be competitive against the best conference in the country.

He flat SAID it and when asked if he was just joking he said no. He plain as day said he has no respect for old people and gave his Dad as an example.. He won't touch it because he said it.
