So much for a bump in NET with Miami's win

We dropped from 22 to 24. Miami rose to 40 from 53. Maybe it'll help down the road.

It will absolutely help down the road.

This is the punishment for playing 1 game in 17 days...every other team is out there winning and improving their resume, and we are sitting on our hands. Screw whoever did the schedule this year.

BUT, it'll even out, and Miami should get back above 30 in the NET soon, so another Q1 win for us which will be massive come March.

Last night was great for us! Win on Saturday, let's keep it rolling!

This topic is interesting, but (for me) is irrelevant.

Rick (spit) used to tell us to enjoy the journey by "Living in the precious present.

This season is that. A journey to be enjoyed, one game at a time.
Yeah, obsessing over every update to the NET and bracketology when we're 3+ months from selection Sunday is kind of silly

edit: only 2+ months now, but still...

Selection Sunday is March 17th which is as late as it can be. The tournament doesn't end until April 8th

If Kentucky keeps playing well it should be Indianapolis to Detroit or Indianapolis to Dallas. Maybe Memphis to either one. Either way those are Friday-Sunday for regionals. And Sunday is Easter. Indy and Memphis are also Friday- Sunday.

it's fun to talk about though, especially when we have a long stretch of only one game

St Joe's lost to 6-7 Rhode Island hurt. They fell from 55 to 64
All these people pretending UNCW didn’t happen and hemming and hawing over Miami forget we needed OT to beat a bad st joes team at home. Listen up guys because I read the other threads to the ones where people are like “I hope we beat florida on the road or it will be a big win”. Listen. Just stop. We have a terrible loss and a bad OT game. We are on track for a 4-5 seed unless we do serious damage in the conference. If we don’t win at UF at TaMU and really get out quick in the SEC we will have no shot at a 2 seed which is where our ceiling likely is. So please stop crying about the net and start looking at what we need to do to land a two or miraculously a 1 seed. We aren’t going on any runs from a 4/5 slot or worse. This team has 1 good win and 1 terrible loss that will require 3 good wins to overcome. Start looking ahead and stop blaming some conspiracy I mean we lost to shat U at home. We re gonna need to run the conference with no more than 3 losses to get to a 2 seed. If we had beat UNCW 3 losses in sec we would be a solid 1 seed. And yes seeding matters.

Phew boy....this is about as bad of a post as one can make haha.

It’s truth buddy. Haven’t you learned anything the last 7 years? You have to win games. The net none of it matters unless you win games consistently. You don’t drop games like UNCW and get rewarded in March. You have to offset it not by winning the conference but by blowing the conference away. And I’ll tell you a loss at florida and the door is slammed shut on a 1 seed. Sunday you’ll be complaining we dropped to 30 and continue to blame the net instead of our coach who can’t motivate or coach his team to win against a bad team. I’m at a loss all of the cal apologists and the “conspiracy against us” crowd. Cal has to do some serious winning and so far this season he has failed. I remember when seton hall prevented us from getting to the 1 line. Well UNCW is gonna make it difficult to win our way to a 2 seed. There is zero margin for error. We are likely a 13-5 type sec team. That’s a 4/5 at best for this team because of UNCW. You see how that works? That game is gonna cost us 2 seed lines unless we become a top 4 team quick. The sec will expose our youth that is for certain when we go to tamu and give up 30 fts you will see how difficult the mountain is to climb now because of that loss.

No one's crying over the NET. This is a Cats discussion board. And you're one of the worst negative posters here.

Damn Arizona just beat Colorado by like 47. Colorado was without two key guys but they are rated 22nd in Kenpom.

And that's the kind of win that moves you up in these things.

Tell your husband to win some games Ellen. Never seen the uk fanbase scared of not being able to compete to top seeds. The fear is palpable when the net discussion is daily beginning in December
Can I just say (again).... That calling other posters Ellen or Brad or the like is about as lame and overused as can be. I actually agree with a lot of your sentiment in this thread in terms of our current NET rating, seed line, etc... but calling someone Ellen will personally make my eyes roll harder than anything else (not that you should care).

Nah. 13-5 in SEC and win over Zags means 7 losses overall going into SEC tourney. Win 2 games there and that’s still just 7 losses when seeds are made. Definitely not a 5 seed and not likely a 4.

Cats do need to finish 14-4 in the SEC. Must win every home game and not be under .500 on the road. 27-6 on selection Sunday would be maybe last 2 or first 3.

He’s not wrong though. I’ve never understood why some people get so bent out of shape over their perceived idea of negativity. It really has no bearing on reality and outcomes. Being positive isn’t changing anything.

Calipari should have done whatever it took to beat UNCW and he didn’t. Switching defense in that game probably does enough to beat them, and utilizing timeouts instead of allowing his guys to lose momentum is another problem. We can’t complain when we’re doing stupid things like that.

At the same time I do think people need to realize you have to accept we had no Wagner, really no Bradshaw, no Ugo…At some point if we keep winning that loss has to be thrown out.

But Kentucky is going to lose a lot of position as the goat program if we don’t stop with the excuses and win to the standard set by not only the men before Calipari, but Calipari himself. We can like the guy all we want but he must be held to the standard and many here don’t. It was the same way with Gillispie, too many show blind loyalty to a fault.

It works both ways. You can’t lose the UNCW game, but there is context. At the end of the day if these guys win to the standard we will be a top seed. And it’s been the longest 1 seed drought in history on Calipari’s watch. We have to win to demand what we want.

The team that won that Natty was a 4 seed last year LOL.

Yeah but if we are being honest, that shouldn't have been a four seed lol. They reeled off 14 straight wins to start that season. Then they had some injury issues and lost 6 of 8.

They were the 4th overall ranked in Kenpom going into that tournament. I don't think the committee is terrible but that was a massive misseed there and it showed in the tournament.

Not really, they lost 6 of 8 games in the middle of the season(UK fans heads would have EXPLODED) Lost 8 games, it's the body of work that the committee looks at, not what you did for me lately or in one stretch of the season.

That's what they do but maybe they shouldn't. Best resumes don't always mean they are the best teams. Uconn winning the title wasn't really a shock in other words despite being just a 4 seed.
