Yes. You are right OP. He purposely missed on Hunter Dickinson and all the other transfers we heard UK contacted but failed to sign. We call it “failing on purpose.” Gold standard recruiting strats like these are too big brained for the common folk of RR but you and I know better.

In all seriousness I think the only thing that has happened by Cal’s design was Oscar moving on. I do think Cal wanted to replace him with Dickinson but he failed to do so.

Obviously this offseason hasn't gone the way anyone wanted and I'm sure even Cal. But it's not as if we were ever rolling into a season with just seven guys lol.
Whether or not we get impactful players at this point is an entirely different story.

At this point it looks like we will get bodies but nothing else.Cal shouldn't have waited on guys coming back.
Yeah looks like he gambled expecting some to come back and that just didn't happen.
It's a shame too because I think this incoming class of freshman that we got should be really good. You needed to surround them with some good players coming back and that just didn't happen here.

Missing on HD isn't the issue. No one can win 100% in recruiting. I just think KU offered more NIL.
The BIG ISSUE is that it has appeared we have only went HARD after 1 other player (than HD), Johnson from SD St.
So at this point, the pickin's are slimmer than what they were, and so Cal is just "scrambling". Just like in golf, being able to scramble well is good skill, but you are better off if you never have to use that skill.
Cal has been working non stop on his fantasy camp schedule I’m going to disagree on him trying to get the best players available. What did he do the whole time he was waiting on the 3 players?
