Skang’s got to go

We were ranked something like #36 last year which was easily the best of the Stoops era. This guy had like the fourth worst offense in the NFL when he was at Denver and will end up with the 2nd worst in the SEC after this year at UK.
I don’t think our OC is good, but I’ve seen enough OCs come here and fail to where I don’t have the energy to call for them being fired. Stoops has to change his approach to offense or we’re going nowhere.

Won't make any difference. This is what Stoops wants. He has literally said it on multiple occasions yet nobody seems to believe him.
He said after the Tennessee game that were a ball control, clock grinding team. He isn’t shy about not being interested in scoring a lot of points.

It’s unreasonable because from where we were when he took over to have the string of bowl games we’re currently on and to become the all time winning football coach , we would be the laughing stock of the entire football world if we fired him . Now would I be upset if he took another job ….nope . But I guarantee the LAST thing on Mitch Barnharts mind is replacing the head football coach.
Since its Barnhart you're talking about here, I would agree he's not thinking about Stoops because it might easier to just make the excuses and find a reason to keep him. Besides, who wants to admit your coaching hire is banging his head on his "best ability" ceiling and failing to improve in a conference that demands it. Stoops said he was "just getting started, Bro" ... and here we are. "Laughingstock?" You can't build and run a program successfully if you make important decisions by allowing yourself to be influenced by the attitudes and opinions of those who have nothing invested in what you're trying to do.

Didn't say I expected him to say anything. Only said some people would be ticked at the response based on replies to this thread.
I dont think anyone REALLY expected him to fire someone today. He did say to Tom Leach that the question he was asked was about firing someone “in season “ , which he’s not going to do.

Agreed. If there's a change coming, it'll be after the year. Tweet didn't clarify the "in-season" part.

Amazing how few people want to hold Levis to any degree of accountability. He was awful today, and has been since the MSU game. I know he's hurt but he's playing awful. He missed several throws and even more reads.

OL was inconsistent again. Played well at times, poor at times. I'm more convinced now than I was a few weeks ago that yenser is gone. I think thats the right decision for both

Play calling was not good today. Much too predictable and we tried counters one play too late. Main issue was red zone. We moved the ball but failed to punch it in.

Today's game was much more a defensive and special teams collapse than offense.

Will was awful today. The defense just didn’t bring it. But the offense has sucked all year . We’ve given up 40 sacks (I realize many are on Will) We are averaging what? 21 points a game against P5 teams ? I think this season has been such an utter failure that somebody needs to take a fall for it . Scang and Yenser are the most obvious scapegoats to me .

I think yenser is gone. I thought that some weeks ago when we abandoned the wide zone. He's married to it and kept preaching about how he knew it worked. Us going away from it imo was just at best an uncontested divorce and at worst a delayed firing.

Our play is inconsistent but not even in a physical way. It's mostly all mental errors that should not be happening and definitely shouldn't be a regular occurrence. Even last game we were still at times chasing a twist instead of passing it off. That just cannot keep happening.

Right . I know you watch Van’s film breakdown. I have asked more than once if he thinks it is a talent problem or a coaching problem and he is adamant that it is strictly a lack of talent. But when the film shows bad technique and players that seem like they are missing assignments or don’t know who they are supposed to block , I just have to disagree with him on that. And I realize my football knowledge is not even comparable to his .

Not the mentality it takes to do that.

You mean that there is no coach out there that can take what Stoops has done and take it further?

That was the mentality before Stoops came wasn't it? I dont accept that personally.

Yeah, I don't think so. JMHO. Like what is the next level? Consistently beating Goergia and Alabama? It isn't happening...

So you have given up. That’s a shame. We could do much better with a new staff.

I haven't given up I am just saying I don't think UK Football will ever be elite. Could we make a SEC Title game possibly one season, maybe.

I don't think there is a coach out there who could do considerably better than Stoops.

Who is Van? Is that riding with styles?

I love his stuff but ya he's off on that point. If that was the case, as wouldn't be so good at pin and pull. Guys aren't super talented, but they're talented enough to win. They're just thinking too much and blowing assignments.

When you see guys chasing twisting defenders in pass blocking that's horrendously bad. We still do it and with regularity. Passing off twists is something you learn in middle school.

The other thing we still constantly do is we blow double teams. At best we never stay on the guy long enough at worst both guys turn him loose altogether.

The wide zone scheme just has not worked for us. I used to think they needed time to gel but the issues above are deeper since they continue to appear on film.

Beating UF and UT wasn't happening either before Stoops came.

Stoops proved you can win at UK. Defeatist mindset to say it can't be done. Missouri made it SEC title game.

I think we are talking about two different things.

I think Stoops or perhaps someone else could get UK to an SEC Title game once or something. I don't think UK will ever be a perennial power in football. Too much to overcome. HS football is giant in the South which puts us at an immediate disadvantage. This is why this season is so disappointing. Had several of the pieces....I'd argue if we had last year's OLine we probably have one loss right now. There is the difference, in general the perennial powers never miss a beat. They just reload....we cannot do that and I don't think there is a coach out there that could do it at UK.

I don’t care how much the o-line sucks. You got a first round draft pick at quarterback, a great running back, competent receivers. You gotta score more than 2 touchdowns against Vandy . FIRE HIS F***KING ASS ! And fire Yenser too !
It is amazing how predictable we are on our plays. Would like to know how many times this year there have been eight defenders in the box and we hand it to CR up the middle. Do we not even have the ability to check out of plays?

Not saying don't try. What folks don't get is it took 5-7 years to get program to what it is. It will take at least that long to get to next level.

I didn't say not to try, I said I don't think we will ever get there. I also think firing Stoops would be a grave mistake for the program.
Not with the right hire. Tennessee had basically 40 players when Heupel came in and he has them too 10 in 2nd year. The foundation is here and the money is here. You’ve got to get a coach that has a style of play that players want to play in.

Scang mentioning its hard to play with lack of possessions. They held the ball and we held the ball. Hard to get any flow when you try to play football stall ball.

That's different. I believe an innovative offensive coach at UK could get them there. Not talking about them being there every year.

Stoops showed you can make UK competitive. It's not impossible. Right guy who can scheme and recruit could go further.

Firing Scangarello is not only the logical choice but it needs to be done. I’m a bit baffled by the fire Stoops reaction, though. That just suggests some here need to sleep off the bourbon and rethink things when their emotions chill out.

I mean do people not realize what would happen? The entire team would leave and we’d be god AWFUL for years just hoping we can get back to where we were. Maybe the next coach would be better, but does anyone want to suck for multiple years just to find out? Really?

Not to mention we have a useless AD who hates NIL and we’re just now getting NIL closer to where it needs to be. Firing our coach will only exacerbate that issue. I get the anger but c’mon, lets not be irrational here.

We need to fire this OC so we can complain about the next OC when our offense has looked the same way it has for 10 years.
Why do we always fall back to this lazy and incrorrect statement?

1. Was the offense the same last year? I don't remember many complaints last year.
2. Stoops under Neal Brown and Shannon Dawson...granted we had major talent issues we were digging out of....we were not that good at establishing the LOS for run game. It was Boom hits' some big plays, JoJo had like 1 game he dominated. Then Eddie Gran came and we established a very good run game but the passing game never materialized.

Stoops isn't a offensive good head coach. He relies heavily on OC. Scang is an epic failure and bad decision. Stoops has to fire offensive staff and needs to hit another Coen homerun. We need to pay all the money it takes to buy a good OC.

Scang was an OC in the NFL one year and he had the fourth worst offense in the league. He has the second worst offense in the SEC. That's just about what should of been expected.
