Sinfield RIP

No disrespect to this guy (and RIP), but up until this very moment I've never heard of King Crimson. So then I played a few of their songs: they completely suck.
Critics consistently cite them as a hugely influential band. WD, I'm with you on this one - they're awful. Just discordant, weird-ass 'music' that I could only listen to if I was tripping on LSD.

No, it's because their biggest US "hit" charted at 54. And that was 40 years ago. These dudes were ass and only weirdos like them.
I wouldn't use the charts from the US to determine a band's value.

Lots of bands that were considered great, never had big hits.

I'm not a big King Crimson fan. They have some value.

The New York Dolls, Velvet Underground, UFO....and so on.

To each their own. They're an acquired taste for sure and have influenced a lot of bands today. Took a while for me to warm up to them.

Anyone referencing the the singles chart when talking about King Crimson would be better off sitting the conversation out. That's not really the point of that kind of music.

I did notice that their albums charted higher.
