Simple solution to our problems on offense.

You do realize this is an open board for fans to discuss our team, either to celebrate wins or critique losses and offer our OPINIONS on what we as former players, coaches, officials, bar tenders, or whatever expertise (or lack thereof) for others to comment on.

If you don't like someone else's OPINION, you have the choice to offer YOUR OPINION as a rebuttal, OR, if you don't like the topic, feel free to just ignore it and move on.

Instead, you and a few other posters on here who think they are called to be the defenders of CMS and the team, regardless of how bad the team is playing, and reply to our OPINIONS with your condescending remarks like you are the know all to be all.

You are right. None of us on here (as far as I know) are coaching the University of KY.

But if we were, we would sure try to " clean up" some of the reoccurring issues that this team is having in hopes of winning some of these final five games.

Right now, based on how this team is playing, and how this staff is preparing and game planning, doesn't give me a warm feeling about winning any of the games left on our schedule this year unless some changes are made.
I never claimed to be a CMS defender, I just don't profess to be an armchair QB and tell the one who makes the money how to do their jobs. That's not my place. Fans always think they know better than the coaches and it's just silly.

Dude, get a grip.
I haven't told CMS ANYTHING...
My post is directed to THE OTHER FANS ON THIS BOARD!!!

Do you know what is really SILLY???? Never mind.....

Any go route to brown is just a wasted down if not a turnover. He won't fight for the ball at all. In fact I'm not sure he ever left his feet to highpoint a ball; or even caught a ball with his hands instead of body.

Flip brown and key like they were last year. Will go a long way to fixing our pass game. Give key the deep shots and let brown work over the middle with overs and crossers where he can catch and run from defenders. Noone is covering him man on those routes. No way. Plus they're high percentage throws instead of the low percentage go where he gives his QB nowhere to throw

Purely jmo but I think to ensure brown came back, they promised to showcase him as wr #1 with a set number of touches in an attempt to build his NFL brand. Problem is he has none of that skillset at all and it's killing our O.

The TEs need the ball more.
Period
With 55 snaps it's hard to keep everyone happy. The new rule with the clock not stopping as much cuts down on snaps anyway. Snapping it at the end of the play clock adds even more to the problem. Our top WR is getting three catches a game. Not many stars going to he happy with limited opportunities.

I agree which is why people need to capitalize and catch the ball especially on 3rd downs. We have an insane amount of drops and seems most of those were on third down. Make those catches and we march forward with more snaps.

All that said, low snap count and slow offense is just what you're getting with an NFL OC. The play call itself is long and that's after the ever changing personnel packages. After the play call you have alignment, shift, then motion and snap.

I personally think we could get rid of the shift if we have a motion after. Teams see these so often it doesn't really do anything unless you snap it basically right away. That motion is what really hurts defenses and is a major part of what makes the dolphins and McDaniel so lethal.

But, my point is, you WOULD CHANGE SOMETHING with the offense in an effort to fix the problem, right???
Definitely! We know the definition of insanity and this offense is driving everyone insane. I just can't understand why or how our two blue chip soph receivers forgot how to catch and run routes, though it looks like Key is getting it turned around somewhat. It's really confounding. If this was Scangarello at OC, I would put it on him, but I am confident this is not on Coen, mostly at least.

It's a good point. Maybe the one good thing Scangarello did last year.

Coen has called some of the most innovative pass plays to get receivers open that I have seen from anyone.

Only to have the OL, WR, or QB fail to execute it properly.

I think the offense would look much better if it simply had more plays to utilize. Meaning, GO FASTER!
If that means putting Leary in the shotgun some and using Ray Davis as a receiver out of the backfield then do it. The slow down game isn't working against SEC caliber competition. You don't have to go all-in on the fast break approach a la UTeee but, a quicker pace can only help.

Put Leary in the shotgun where he has played his entire career, and go to two minute offense.

You would see an immediate turn around in the offense.

Chicken crap coaching will never allow it to happen....oh well.
While I agree Leary would probably improve in that type offense, since he is used to that. He came here to learn a pro-style. IDK if Coen has that in his repatiore
