Silas Demary Jr offered scholly

To the players anymore it seems all about the money instead of coaching. I get it because we all want the big bucks but it's frustrating to lose top guys because they get more elsewhere.

Silas shot 37% from 3 on a decent number of attempts. His rebounding is decent for the position and he got a good amount of steals. His turnovers and shooting inside the arc weren’t great, but Pope can improve that via system.

If Silas gets a similar offensive bounce as Bulter and Oweh with Pope, he projects to be strong piece for potentially multiple seasons.

I’d like to get Damary to start with Oweh on the wing.

Then get a legit PG. Maybe someone who has yet to hit the Portal?

Hoping an elite PG hits the Portal within the next few weeks.

IIRC, Butler didn’t hit the Portal until late April. Is that right? I know Pope was already on the job and already had some other positions filled when Butler entered the Portal.

Just thinking of the timeline last season. Pope didn’t have his roster completed until May or so, right? Might be a a month or so before he’s done.

And patience may pay off, if someone really good enters the Portal late.

I’d take the 6’7 UCF guard to go w Oweh and Damary. The length and athleticism in the back court would be phenomenal….all35-40% from 3; but can create their own shot and a 3 level scorer

Give me a solid stretch 4 and a physical 5 man.

Use your less athletic 40+% shooters as the backcourt depth and 10-15min a game

I’d like to have the kid. But if he wants to play here i think he needs to take the offer now. Think we’re casting a pretty wide net and that spot may be gone quick.
I was thinking the same way earlier when I was reading him talking about taking multiple visits. If he really likes us he better jump. Pope may get someone else or his interest may go toward a new entry into the portal. The kid from Tulane had the right perspective.

This reminds me of an old story about Pitino showing up at his meeting with Mashburn's family with a calendar marking Jamal's every day at UK through to the NBA draft. I may have the details wrong, but it's the full-press, charismatic pitch that came to mind.
I always wished Pitino had shown Ray Allen the same amount of attention.

Allen would have been a UK legend, and helped us win back-to-back titles in 1995 and 1996.

GA transfers worry me some after that one guy.

So Demary played well against us and Butler said he was good. Is that what we are mainly going on with him. Seems not just him but we are reaching out to next level down guards from the ones with much better numbers. Like the guy from LSU whose numbers are not good at all. Are these guys OK coming in as backups? Demary is not even a true one, can play both, but more of a two where Oweh will be playing hopefully.

Demary, Oweh, Chandler and a top notch pg would be rock solid out front

I sure hope as backups because we need next level to get to the next level!

I can def see where you say this. I see it also. However there is a rare breed of person who sees the big picture. These people have vision, a code, a way to build knowledge beyond money. They win in the long run. I’m thinking Pope recognizes the qualities that make these people better candidates for a spot at UK.
