Rick Barry’s son the best player. How are these guys chosen? Can pro players be used for the 3-man teams? Big man was awful and the other player wasn’t that good either.
Seems like lately they are trying to create weird stuff just to add more to the Olympics, both summer and winter. Needs to stop as they're making a joke of what the Olympics really were intended to be. Might as well add hopscotch and tiddly winks as medal opportunities. I exaggerate but you get what I mean.Because the players suck ass. How is this even an Olympic sport anyway? So damn random.
We need to bring back some of the classic random Olympic sports of yesteryear. Thinks like chess, kite flying, bowling, fire fighting, tug of war, and art competitions. How is this even an Olympic sport anyway? So damn random.
They set it up so USA can’t dominate. We can’t just say hey Mr. NBA all star who didn’t make the Olympic team wanna play? They have a point system and that requires a player to play 3 on 3 tournaments all year to gather enough points to qualify. What we need to do is get 3 16-18 year old players about to enter college who are like Cooper Flagg who can make money off sponsorships and the reputation boost they gain to represent the USA. They can play summer tournaments and be on the same team a couple years before the games. It’s a win win for the USA and the players. Pros wouldn’t get the blessing or have the time to do that.Rick Barry’s son the best player. How are these guys chosen? Can pro players be used for the 3-man teams? Pretty much, they have freaking break dancing this year but not baseball.Seems like lately they are trying to create weird stuff just to add more to the Olympics, both summer and winter. It's not "rigged." The other countries' top pros don't play either. The rules are the same for everyone. It's rigged so USA can't send even decent pro level players. It's a joke.
Are you kidding me?Pretty much, they have freaking break dancing this year but not baseball.

We need drone racing in the Olympics. That stuff is wild!We need to bring back some of the classic random Olympic sports of yesteryear. Thinks like chess, kite flying, bowling, fire fighting, tug of war, and art competitions.
Are you kidding me?
Drone racing is awesome, I worked for a hobby shop that sold a lot of drones and we had a set of demo goggles and stuff. So much fun. I used to fly our drone over the shop and take it down by the bridge overlooking the Ohio, it had over a mile range for video, hit a button and it would GPS back and land on its own where I took off from.We need drone racing in the Olympics. That stuff is wild!
So if we don't play it, and other countries don't play it.. then why is it an event to begin with?
It's stupid and pointless. People want to see the best compete, not some church league atmosphere.
I’ve been saying the same thing too for the last couple Olympics. At one point they even dropped wrestling as a permanent sport and made it one of the rotational sports like ribbon twirling; even tho its one of the most original eventsSeems like lately they are trying to create weird stuff just to add more to the Olympics, both summer and winter. Needs to stop as they're making a joke of what the Olympics really were intended to be. Might as well add hopscotch and tiddly winks as medal opportunities. I exaggerate but you get what I mean.

They should add a brawl competition. Have like thirty of your countries meanest bastards just throw down. Last man standing wins it all. Would definitely be better than watching a 10k meter swimming event.
That does make the whole thing seem rather pointless. They set it up so USA can’t dominate. We can’t just say hey Mr. NBA all star who didn’t make the Olympic team wanna play? Maybe break dancing is more widespread than baseball.Pretty much, they have freaking break dancing this year but not baseball.
Id watch the hell out of that.
I like your idea very much. Get rid of the fluff stuff and concentrate on the main events such as you listed. That would be plenty to fill two weeks of TV coverage and we'd all get some awesome events to watch every day.I’ve been saying the same thing too for the last couple Olympics. At one point they even dropped wrestling as a permanent sport and made it June if the rotational sports like ribbon twirling.
Get back to the bread and butter from the original Greek concept being measures of pure athleticism or combat oriented skills. It needs to just be Track & Field, Wrestling, Fencing, Boxing, cycling, Swimming, gymnastics, rowing, sailing, shooting etc. …….then add in the Uber popular team sports like basketball, soccer, cricket, Rugby, baseball, volleyball (indoor and beach), tennis, golf ——wrap it up and call it a day
If you google 1908 summer Olympics events (the original summer Olympics crafted after the Greek games with some additions)…the event list should look almost identical plus a couple team sport additions
In theory we could just that our pros won’t take the time or probably be allowed to play enough to qualify. All we need to do is take is take our best U18 players and have them play over the summer and participate in the next games coming up. Do it a year or 2 before to get some cohesion and go from there. If those guys don’t make the NBA they can continue representing the US and making money that way. Even during the summers away from overseas deals which they can probably easier negotiate to play. Our best player is Jimmer and he’s 35 years old now. 3 on 3 is asking for the best iso players in my mind. A Jamal Crawford or someone in that vein would dominate IMO.That does make the whole thing seem rather pointless.
If the best in the world can't participate--why is it an Olympic sport?
If you have to make up sham rules to keep 1 country from dominating it--then it really shouldn't be an Olympic contest.
I read that the host nation can pick and choose some sports they want and don’t want. Since France sucks and has no baseball infrastructure they kept it out. It was a sport during the Tokyo Olympics and a couple others. I’d assume in LA it will return.Maybe break dancing is more widespread than baseball.
2020 seems to be the year they added the random stuff. Since then, they have added:I’ve been saying the same thing too for the last couple Olympics. Paddle (Padel) Ball is more popular in Europe than Pickleball I think. Similar game but different ballsGuessing next up in 8 years will be pickleball. I played that for first time last week. Wow, it was fun!
