Should Oscar's Jersey be hanging in the rafters?

In the practice facility but not rupp. I'm old fashioned and expect alot out of people.

Yes!

Yes anyone saying no is just being a hater.

Sure his talent didn't get us to a Final 4 but I'd hate to see the last two years without him.
He saved the team at times, but he did not make his teammates better, IMO. The team would have gone further had he played defense. So I say no. Maybe if he does other things in the future to help UK.

Ummm. Oscar didn’t merely “not win a title.” The dude led UK to a 1-2 record and the program’s most embarrassing tourney loss in school history.

He also didn't have the better teams around him a lot of the other guys did. It's a team game sport.

Oscar dominated all 3 ncaa tourney games. Give him a murray or monk and let's see what would have happened.

Not true I love Oscar but the fact he had no tournament success he needed that rebounding mark to have his jersey hanging. Doesn’t winning matter anymore???

Wheeler was Oscar’s problem. Wheeler is why Oscar won’t have his jersey retired. Maybe in 30-40 years it happens due to a movement but the tournament losing and the turmoil those things matter especially 10-20 years from now when. He’s eligible.

Great post by the way, u go by Dave or do i call you Kersey, close to Kelcies ocean on Andy Griffith, most people in Ky think thats really an ocean. ERNEST t Bass, you know he directed the show a couple times?
Everyone reads everyword you say. I am one. Keep up the great work!!!
Howard Morris also did the voice work for so many cartoon characters in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, possibly beyond. He was really a multi talented guy.

He has to be elected to UK Athletics HOF
There is a 10 year wait then the committee on Jersey retirement will decide
It took 50 years to get Jim Andrews into HOF and his stats are much greater than Oscar
UK does a horrible job at this. I mean it took Pratt dying to get his up. And his should've been up waaaay before that.

Shame on UK for dragging it's feet on these.

He was pretty dominant against St. Peters. 30 and 16. Grady and TyTy absolutely sucked. Wheeler scared to death late in the game. Pinning that loss on Oscar is a joke.

Exactly.

Ty and Grady were hurt though so I don't blame them much either. Grady was playing on two bum feet. Tyty had been majorly banged up twice and still tried to play.

Wheeler? Well, I thank him for his time here, but we know that was an issue.

Unanimous NPOY, 2x AA, 2x NCAA rebounding leader in 2 seasons @ Kentucky. Anyone saying he shouldn’t be in the rafters is just being a contrarian.
Or they have a different standard than you. Oscar is kind of an unprecedented player. To stuff as many stats he did but both seasons the team stunk it up. That’s never happened. Every name retired in rupp played for a successful team. I love Oscar but his profile isn’t that of your typical player hanging in the rafters. Actually there are none like him. That unforgettables team names are up there because of winning in the tournament so that will be highly considered in 10-15-20 years: I could see history being unfavorable to oscar fair or not. He was a stat stuffer on a couple of massive underachieving teams.

You think all these details will be even thought of in 10-20 years? I don’t.

My dad loved that show, hes in the Trigg County hall of fame for basketball, i lettered 4 four years at UHA, no where near the athlete he was. He married a 5 foot most beautifully gifted lady ever. I couldnt play basketball in college but ive scored 60 in a game

I would think those players had more than 1 ncaa tournament win
Riley snd Dampier had each other.
Issel had Pratt
Mashburn, maybe you are right about him, but he is on our Mt Rushmore list.
Prince had Bogans.
You convienently missed the main point, that it’s a team game, and he had less of a supporting cast than most other UK greats.

Underachieving teams or not, the only unanimous NPOY in school history will be up there one day on that fact alone

It’s a no for me dawg.

I love Oscar but we didn’t win with him. He was amazing on the glass but for some reason he doesn’t feel like an all time great to me.

The whole of college basketball literally disagrees .

Do you feel his NPOY was unearned?
