Should Levis consider coming back?

Not a chance. He’s gone.

The most talented passer we’ve had in many years …and appears this is the most we’ll get out of him. Next year it’s back to sorting through B-list QB options.
Honestly we ****ed up thinking we could advance and go blow for blow. We had our success bc we were forced to establish a dominant run at all else game and we controlled clock and ate up yards 2.5 yards at a time.

it worked last year bc we still leaned on the ground and took advantage of wandale at opportune times.

but look at the years prior to being forced tk feed Benny…..

It’s no different rhat when Georgia tech wanted to “mordernize” and suddenly they went from an 8 win team to garbage and realized their place

look no further than the single season of the Bowden year and what a difference commitment to dominating 1 aspect can make. We were on track for a 4 win season and went to Bowden. While Lynn was awesome, it isn’t hard to find an athletic sturdy guy to get hard yards and commit to it. Passes are wasted downs. Move forward 2 yards at a time and give yourself a chance on 3rd down

It’s why the other time we have beat UT it was with a wide receiver at qb

Definitely not. He will be potential #1 overall based on potential. He isn't a great college QB but he's shown flashes. Tonight was a major step back for him. Indecisive, telegraphing throws, poor presnap recognition.

Really disappointed considering his last game was probably his best from a cerebral perspective

Listened to Jones’ postgame last night and he said Levis flat out cost himself lots of money last night. Was also reading some tweets from NFL scouts and analysts and they had mixed reviews on where to lay blame for offensive woes. Many down on Scang, but same amount are down on Scang with the caveat that Levis was really bad. Stock way down

If they would take the hand cuffs off of him he might look a lot better.
If we have a projected top 10 pick maybe even top overall and the best WR room that we’ve ever had and still refuse to uncuff him good luck getting any decent QB to come here and play which was the reasoning to get rid of Eddie gran. (because he couldn’t attract skill players).
now we have attracted a bunch of skill players and won’t use them 😭😭😭

Best WR room ever? Do what now?

Yes we probably have currently one of if not the best WR rooms that the university of Kentucky has ever fielded, I would probably give the burton, Steve Johnson , Lyons ect the edge based on production but rankings for these WR are far far superior.
It would be hard in this O for our WR if we went and kidnapped the LA rams and made them play. We do no favors to anyone on the offensive side of the ball.

You are just flat wrong. High ranked freshman and still freshman. Rankings don’t mean a thing. WanDale is not walking through that door. Ali was good too.

We’ll, he is ranked 63rd in QBR. I mean, how could it not help his draft stock if he did come back? Right now his stock is in Cousin Eddie’s outhouse.

Have no idea if it was true but , Matt Jones did say some nfl scouts texted negative things about play calling. If he said anything about texts about Levis, I must have missed it. And I listened to the whole show.

It's clear he should, but can/will he improve on where he will go in the draft if he does? He's got the talent, but if he can't progress through reads and be on target here, what's going to happen there?

He was throwing off his back foot alot, likely due to the turf toe, so that explains throws being high (first interception) and under or overthrown depending on the trajectory of the ball. But the throws that were way off of receivers directly in front of him and coming back to him really shocked me.

Was it just a bad game? Could he not rotate through because of the left shoulder injury? I don't know, but it was a very very bad game for him even when he had plenty of time to throw, and that effectively hurt the balance of our offense. The turnovers led directly to short fields and points.

As in every loss so far, the offense really cost us the game.

I'm also thinking we need to try to pry Liam Coen back here at seasons end.

No real scout is going to text out anything. Good or bad.

The Rams offense is ranked 25th in Football Outsiders (Bill Connelly) this week, and the team is 3-3. That's not going to cut it. It may be that Coen discovers that he is a better fit for the college game, or if it doesn't improve McVey may want to make a change, so there is a chance that your idea may materialize. He was on track to make $2.2 Mil this year with UK had he returned, which is more than the average NFL coordinator makes and the cost of living here is substantially less.

This exactly the problem. I posted stats from previous seasons and his success is dependent upon his ability to make plays. He has -44 rushing yards this season after putting up nearly 400 last year. He looks awful as a pocket passer honestly Scangarello has turned him into a jimmy garoppolo. There is zero creativity just drop back expect the line to block and telegraph passes. They need to allow Levis to play his game. I’m really at a loss for why they took this track with him. It’s killed the season and is definitely going to affect recruiting and bringing in a solid replacement.

I just don't get him being a first round pick. He locks on to 1 receiver and doesn't go through his progressions if that guys is covered. He holds the ball too long and makes horrible decisions too many times.

Development wise he should, he needs to work on his mechanics and other things like holding onto the ball to long (pocket awareness), but he won't. The NFL sees his potential, he will go to the combine and be a work out warrior with a big arm and be a top 15 pick at worst. His issue will be that he is not year one ready, he will need to time to develop, so I hope he goes to a team who will give him that. Maybe a team like the Giants who could bring back Danny Dimes or the Seahawks who could ride out Geno and give Levis time to develop

Levis has a real problem with processing. Tennessee was bringing 5-6 guys a lot of the time to get pressure. That means single coverage and gaps that should be empty. If he sees the pressure and throws into those gaps where the blitzer vacates he should have put up monster numbers. There is a reason that most Tennessee games under Heupel have come down to big scoring fests. They play high pressure defense, and if you can handle it, then it becomes a track meet.

The second problem was even when he made the correct read, it was a terrible throw that was late and behind the receiver. This gets back to processing and decision making. It just wasn't there, and right now an NFL scout has to be going back and looking at a lot of tape, because if a college QB has issues with processing then there is no chance they can be successful in an NFL offense.

Go watch some of the tape of Kenny Pickett yesterday against the Eagles. Pickett was a QB who had no red flags in regard to processing in college and the Eagles used and abused him yesterday with disguised blitzes/coverage. Levis would have looked like a little league QB starting for a high school championship game.

Shouldn't come back for this OC. Our QB whisperer is turning a likely first rounder into an arena league backup. Can't see in my wildest dreams how he can recruit a quality SEC level QB to come here.

Hope he leaves. We need a QB with a high football IQ. That ain’t Levis. Not very accurate either. And Stoops can go with him.

It’s his arm strength dude . It’s special. That is what they are drafting. They are willing to take a chance on developing it into a quarterback.

I saw a chart where on average , in the pro’s the ball comes out in 2.7 seconds on pass plays.

That's exactly what I've been seeing, unfortunately. He's also been calling out the wrong protections. The worst thing for him was the press clippings this year. He was better last season in Coens offense, but there was more flow, the plays weren't telegraphed, and the line was seasoned with veteran starters.

We're not utilizing his strengths at all, and time he could have spent improving this spring and summer went towards learning a new offense.

He should come back, he’s not a first rounder. Clay Travis said on Twitter he has no idea how he’s a first rounder (I know I know, Travis is a EwTee guy, but still a sports guy). I agree with him.

Come back, play behind a line that will surely be much improved with a year starting under their belt, a full month of practicing under their belt leading up to the bowl game (hopefully), a more mature and ready to roll redshirt Goodwin, and talented receivers that are a year older and that much better.

Come back to improve accuracy, footwork, command of the pro-style offense. Come back to do all that, and also cash in on your star-power for NIL deals. Have a big year (statistically) and go top 10. He will not go first round this year. Freaking crazy talk.
