Should Flagg go what superlative UK player hurt most leaving without a title?

The most disappointing loss ever for me was the ‘92 team not getting to the FF.

So that whole team but specifically Pelphrey, Feldhaus, Farmer, Woods and Mashburn.

Those guys not only stayed and restored the program they left everything they had on the floor.

I’m not over that loss 33 years later.

Having unraveled what was being asked in the thread title, I say Flagg comes back to Duke to get that title. They’ll probably pay him $3M or more to come back. And he’s still so young.
What UK player was hurt most leaving without a title? I’ll pick KAT since Cal blew that teams chances of winning it all by sticking with stall ball the last 5 minutes.

I don't believe Flagg will come back. Even if he does, there is NO guarantee Duke will win the NC. Their chance was this year.

I will say KAT too. If that team wins, 40-0, it's considered the greatest team in history. But instead, it still makes me sick to my stomach.

that would be the dumbest money move ever. He will make sooooo much more than 3 mil being the number 1 pick and we aren't even talking about an injury risk playing another year of college and not having a NBA contract to fall on.

I always loved Tayshawn Prince. I think was the 2001-2002 season when he blasted UNC in their house. That team was good and TP was a very consistent piece. One of the few California guys to do really well at UK.
He did win a championship with the Pistons though!!

Everyone else here answered, and I admire you guys for your courage, but I can not for the life of me understand what the thread title is asking.

Flagg ain’t coming back. The whole idea is to get to your second contract as quick as possible.

I’m waiting for a translation on this thread.
Yeah, reading my own words this was really clunky phrasing.😔

My awkward point was if Flagg should leave it’s going to rip the heart outta Duke fans. So I was pondering the UK equivalent. And now that I’ve seen the replies can I change my answer to Mashburn🙂

My grandson is a Duke fan ( I'm working on him) and he says it's rumored Flagg said he was coming back if they didn't win the title.
To me, he'd be crazy to give up a number one pick slot in the draft but I guess you never know.

See my prior post on this. Sorry for the confusion from my awkwardly worded mess of a thread.🤦🏽‍♂️

Same.

If he returns with the boozers coming in and the acc sucking. Well they could try to make a run at an u defeated season. Flagg is a young 18 and you don’t want to see him in college another year.

Probably a lot of the Tubby era players for me. Guys like Tayshaun, Bogans, Hayes, Hawkins, Fitch, Daniels, Estill, etc. They played their hearts out on some really good teams for a whole 3-4 years back before the one and done/portal era, but we could just never quite get over the hump in the tournament.

Yes. Kenny Walker hurt for me too. Suspect Dan Issel for some of the older generation.
I think he meant a player leaving early for the draft without winning a title....so I think you meant to type Mashburn. :) Agree with Kenny Walker (and Bowie) not winning a title hurt. Edit: I just noticed that you had typed yes to a Mashburn post before the Kenny Walker thing. Sorry. We're in 100% agreement. lol

I don’t see Flagg coming back. If he did though do you think the Boozers reopen their recruitment? Not that I want them just curious to what others think
Well the rumor in HS when they were in the same class was the Boozers didn’t want to play with Flagg. No clue if that was true or not but something to look out for if Flagg did return(doubt he does)
