Yup, with any semblance of a real offense and solid special teams we would easily be 9-1. Unfortunately we have Scangarello and don't seen to be interested in coaching up special teams.
This kind of thread always amazes me. Could have also lost a couple of games we won. Cuts both ways. We are what we are.

We also could have easily lost to Mizzou, goes both ways. But, yes….a decent coach has at least 8 wins at this point.
And it’s the reason this sucks so bad. They had the talent to win 9-10 games again possibly 11 with a bowl.
We‘ve actually made two game winning plays that were wiped out by penalties.
While we're doing the "what ifs".....What if Barion Brown had gotten set a tenth of a second sooner and the Levis to Key pass at Ole Miss had been the game winner?
Truth is this team plays with no fire, lacks desire, focus and motivation, is ill-prepared, lacks leadership both from coaches and upper classmen. People want the OC/OL coaches gone but that doesn't fix everything. D is soft, Stoops replaced 5 coaches who apparently can't recruit. Took 5 weeks to tear down what it took the last 5 years to build. December rebuild will be interesting.

Yes and with all that still should be 9-1. We are by far the best 4 loss team in America and it ain't close. None of them should be 9-1
I have to disagree. Particularly your ‘fluke’ comment vs Vandy. They pretty much just beat us, no fluke about it. They had better statistics, better energy, and deserved to win. If you want to talk about a fluke just go back to the roughing call on the punt vs Missouri that gave us that win. Now that was a real fluke.
Yea and if we could get back about 25 touchdowns that UT scored, we could be undefeated.
Two terrible calls kept their drive alive. We won that game it the refs called it fairly
How in the f—- can you look at this team and say we “should” be 9-1? We committed 10 penalties in two of our wins, we can’t do simple tasks like “make a good snap,” we have the worst OL in P5 football, and couldn’t muster more than 31 points against the dregs of our schedule. We are a poorly coached mess of a football team.
What does Coach have to do to satisfy you Negative Nancy's? At worse we finish 7-5 with an outside shot at 8-4. Then beat up on a Big 10 opponent in the bowl game and viola a 9 win season on the heels of a 10 win season and y'all want to run him out of town.
'Outside shot at 8-4'? That's comedy gold, my friend. If, by 'outside shot' you mean like winning the lottery on the day Hell freezes over, then, yeah, that's an outside shot.
I think if you allow 450 yards to Vandy’s back up QB you probably are who your record says you are maybe plus or minus one game.
This is also the type of thinking that keeps the current coaching staff intact and players from transferring so if you are someone who wants changes this off-season I would not advise thinking this way.

I’m good with 7-5. I figured we’d either be a good 8-4 team or an average 9-3 team in the preseason but if you told me we’d end up 7-5 I wouldn’t have been shocked either what with potential injuries, CRods suspension, and preseason question marks at DB, WR, and OL.
What is inexcusable is that effort against a bad Vandy team.

We played some cupcakes this year, no one can deny that. With this kind of talent, favorable schedule, and a chance to build on a fair foundation laid over the past 4-5 years, this season is just short of disastrous to me. This is absolutely coaching. I really like CMS and Big Dog but I’m wondering if the rest of his staff shouldn’t turn their backs around next time the get the paycheck. Something must be done, I’m starting with the whole offensive staff first.
“At worse we finish 7-5” ? Actually it’s just the opposite. At BEST we finish 7-5. There is no way in hell we beat Georgia. They can name the score on that game and you can bet they will hammer us all the while going easy on us. UL sucked worse than Vandy but not anymore. They’re as good as us and ESPN now has us with a 48% chance of winning that game. 6-6 is more likely than 7-5 or 8-4. Plus, if you haven’t noticed, our guys have pretty much thrown in the towel. Our program is in trouble at this point.
Oh please! We were "in trouble" during part of 2019 and regrouped. 2020 we laid an egg and won 10 games the next year. Y'all are a bunch of sky is falling Debbie Downer's. We're fine

Because this team isn't as bad as you say and we can (can) play with anyone with our A game. You act like this is going to be Joker-like 63-10 or something. It won't be. Stoops since he got things going rarely suffers "epic beat downs." You're just trying to set yourself up to be pleasantly surprised if we give them a game
We should be 9-1 in the sense that we have the talent and should have done the work to win three of the games we lost. The only way “should be” works here is as a measure of our regression and underachievement. Our losses have not been flukes.
