At least now we know. People were gong back and forth whether he would be eligible 2022 draft. Will be interesting to see what he does.
I said from day one ghost he's gone after this year. There are no more rules.
One source said this when several others said the opposite. Guess we’ll know soon enough.
If he enrolled at Duke he wouldnt be eligible until the 2024 draft!
Damn, I wish I could remember who kept insisting (repeatedly) that he would DEFINITELY not be eligible. I repeatedly said, if he wants to be eligible, his people will find a way. And if he wants to leave after this year, he will.
I'm not gonna bad mouth the kid, his choice and I thought his age was the reason he wasn't eligible. I had no clue just thought he had to wait a year now it's just like we thought. He won't play and at the end of the year he enters his name to get feedback with people saying he will be back when he stays and gets drafted in the 40s.
He won't play until he's drafted by a team. NBA GM i mean coach cal never had plans for him to play. Hopefully well be a top 20 team next year. We lose a lot once again and restart
This back and forth is ridiculous. And it’s a real shame if he never plays a minute. Hopefully he will honor his word and be back next season.

We can only hope . No matter what the speculation gonna be there up until the final deadline to declare for the draft . Even if he announces now I’m flat out staying people won’t believe it .
He’s predicted to go #6 in this year’s draft. He would be crazy to step foot on the court for UK this season or come back for next season. He is GONE.

I would enter draft and not play. Why give scouts a chance to pick your game apart.

Because players play? This world we are living in where people think they have to hide their ability to keep from being exposed is absolutely $%#*ed.
I definitely thought that recent quote Cal had about how transfers will want to come here after all the success they’ve had here this year was interesting given his previous tone about transfers if need be. Without Sharpe next years class isn’t special. Skyy-ehh, Cason-Shai/Bledsoe type, Chris-Keldon Johnson type. This is huge for next years team. I have no reason to believe he comes back if he can go be a top 10 pick with no risk of injury or bad play. Transfers, a small recruiting class, and some returners…feels like we’ll run this season back again next. Not necessarily a bad thing
I'm super happy with this year's team and how we are playing. But man, if Shaedon Sharpe ends up just being a layup line sideshow for UK ... yuck.
Problem with him playing for KY is more then likely he can’t improve his draft status playing well and can only hurt it. Wonder how much NIL money he getting to sit on the bench for 3 months.
Our average age of our players this year is 47 years old. We could maybe potentially lose a teenager to the draft. But this is where we are with Cal? Come on dude. Be fair at least. You want old grizzled dudes or do you want the blue chippers? He’s giving you both. For the first time since he’s been here Cal seems to have his ear to the ground and making the changes that the fans wanted. I hate having to defend Cal because I’m not a “cal lover”. But damn some of y’all say dumb stuff.

The only thing we have is a bunch of NIL money for him. Two years ago, then he's probably gone.. just maybe with a six figure endorsement deal here, money doesn't become a huge issue. Live the good life with one year of college and build your name recognition..

Wouldn't surprise me if the plan totally changes once the season ends (not saying it definitely will, but it wouldn't be a shocker). It's hard to pass up a top ten draft projection if that's where they slot him.
I agree this isn’t ideal, but what is Cal supposed to say to the #1 player who wants to:
A) Sign with Kentucky
B) Enroll early

No surprise. Just as I've always figured and been vocal about on this board from the very beginning.
When he is ready he plays to help KY Win basketball games.
I’m sure UK didn’t want it out. I’ve thought all along his intention was to condition with the team, make some NIL money, and enter this years draft without playing a game for UK.
It is what it is and I’m not very happy about it.
We have a pretty good team and hopefully we finish strong.
I am rather sick of Cal allowing these kids to use us as a pitstop. He can stop it real easy by going to Sharpe and saying you play the next game or pack your bags. We have enough cheerleaders!
Pisses me off that Oscar is out there working his ass off and can’t make NIL money while we got a kid that won’t play and is making NIL money!!
