You bet he is, ucheat and dook are like 100% against the ncaa, I would bring the bucks and the legal team and make them bow down to Self and the jaywalkers.

Chapter 3 in UNC playbook. The NCAA really f*cked up when they showed how easily they could be bullied. Just threaten litigation and all sins are forgiven. NCAA will be issuing a public apology just any day now. What a joke those spineless pricks are.

Why didn't Cal get the word that it's OK to pay recruits and give recruits families all kind of stuff? 'Well known that everybody does it'? Why didn't the majority of schools not get that notice?
What a tool. I've dealt with stuff like this with an old college roommate. Get caught red-handed then start freaking out, playing the victim. That roommate was a loser and so is Self.

They probably TOLD him to pay what KRatcheskipaid them and bring a lawsuit to blow some smoke to make it look good.

I'VE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS that this IS EXACTLY why they hate Cal. It's why people always hate those who win without cheating and kissing up to the media. They know everyone else does it and love it that they are "insiders" who know and keep it quiet. That's why no one says much when the news comes out.

One of Self's recruiting pitches is that the team has one of the best attorneys on retainer. You know, just in case!
The playbook is clear. The NCAA’s biggest mistake was not by being somewhat “lenient” on schools who cooperated.
That’s the issue though, and why Self and Kansas think there is a case to be won here. Regardless of what every knows is going on with basketball and shoe company money etc., there is no actual hard evidence against Self, just a bunch of implied thoughts from texts. The only witness who has testified under oath specifically said Kansas was intentionally kept in the dark. Whether that’s believable or not doesn’t really matter. The biggest thing the NCAA has are those texts, but regardless of what reading between the lines tells you, even those texts aren’t direct or explicit to actually implicate him in anything improper (from a literal standpoint). The NCAA isn’t a court of law and can do their own thing though Which means harsh punishments are coming, which is exactly why Kansas is trying to take this to an actual legal court where in that setting they know the NCAA doesn’t have enough actual evidence.
The evidence shows that payments were made and KU has agreed with the NCAA on this fact. Those payments were also from a booster (i.e., Adidas). That alone is sufficient to show violations occurred.
Whether Self was personally aware of the payments themselves is completely irrelevant. The violation occurred, whether he knew about it or not.
And while the texts may not explicitly reference specific payments, the texts do clearly establish that Self was fully aware that Adidas was in contact with prospective student athletes. Awareness of this contact should have caused Self to be more vigilant in understanding what Adidas was doing, or at least caused him to remind them of what not to do, given their role as a booster.
They won't take a dime away from Emmert. The NCAA generates $1B from March Madness, they'll take the lawyer fees out of the money that would go back to the schools.
Keep in mind litigation is a 2-way street. The NCAA gets subpoena power once a complaint is filed. They can depose coaches and players under oath. Subpoena bank accounts, cell phone records, tax returns. This would be great news if I trusted the NCAA to actually take advantage of the opportunity.
Bill Self is so egotistical I truly believe he would go under oath and lie. Hes that bad.
I was on the Az state dental board. We were threatened like this... we ended finding insurance fraud, suspended his dentist’s license, many hours of CE and giving him a big fine.
HE did sue the board. He lost, he kept appealing...
The state stood its ground.
It was finally and completed terminated without any settlement after 4 years (just 2 mns ago).
That guy had to have lost a ton in legal fees and all that went into his defense.
