And trying to be nice here and not pointing to anyone in particular, regardless of how difficult you think this is, it is here to stay. In fact, it's going to become more and more common. Your Cable or Satellite provider will likely fold at some point in the future and it will be all streaming.

I have two elderly parents and I can tell you that some people are way, way underestimating how difficult this stuff can be for older people.
That is what is upsetting me.

For me its a little aggravating to navigate but its just a couple extra steps to watch the game. For my 80 year old grandparents that just got their first smart TV this year it can be a little overwhelming.

Just to many people insulting instead of helping.

it's hard for me to even believe that anyone still uses outdated tech like a satellite or cable. it's mind numbing.

Do they also frequent message boards and have a strong internet presence?
Probably considering message boards have been around since dial up days. However smart TVs and apps are newer and therefor older people don't use them as much. For example my grandparents who just got a smart TV this year and didn't even know what an app was.

Again there are other people in the world. Not everyone knows all like you.

do people simply not understand or realize that ALL OF THE GAMES ARE ON YOUTUBE FOR FREE?
Well, I for one do realize that. However, there is a wide variety of quality and availability of those streams. You never know if the one you watched last game will be on again for the current game. Of if they will get shutdown or just decide to turn it off during the game. Of if you'll click on them only to end up in an ad loop, etc.

UK is my favorite team. I waste a lot of money on other things less important. I'd rather pay for YouTubeTV or similar and watch a consistent broadcast.

I know very little in the grand scheme of things and I know people have trouble, never minimized that. Tried to provide helpful tips for folks. You’re way too worked up about an internet joke, my guy. Take a breath. Go Cats

It's more amazing people can't just be decent and try to help. The very first comment was unhelpful and set the tone.

Want better threads stop being assholes.
Maybe you don’t need to be on the internet. Seems very challenging for you

Do you have a smart TV or a computer? You already have access to it. Just have to get the ESPN app. I can walk you through it if you need help with it. They make it about as confusing as possible to try to sell more plus subscriptions I guess.
i think someone should put together a zoom meeting 10 minutes before tip off to help all the people having issues

Your post was an angry statement that you were pissed off about how the app works.

“I paid a lot of money per month to add ESPN and SECnetwork so I could watch the Cats. Now they want $10 or $20 more to add the + versions of these. Nope, enough’s enough. I’ll just ask somebody who won.”

You see a question in there anywhere?

Worked up over people not helping others. Seems like a good enough reason for me. But you can act like its a joke now and play it off like I am being to serious. Don't care one bit what you or any of these randoms posters on the internet think. You were being rude and I called you on it.

That is OP not me. That's what I am saying you all don't even know what's going on. So just let us help him and you can keep your unhelpful comments to yourself.

Nothing here is personal. No one knows you. It’s meant to be less than the most serious thing in the world. I’ll speak for me—I don’t post to make people upset. You have to have a sense of humor about things sometimes

I have a sense of humor.

Just not when people are berating an old guy for being upset about something that IS unnecessary and intentionally difficult to navigate to hopefully trap some older people in subscriptions they don't need. Which is exactly how this app makes me feel.

Point stands. He came in hot and caught some pushback as a result. Now you're standing up for him for some reason (???) and caught some strays as well. Maybe don't pipe up if you don't want a response.

hmm, strange, i've had zero issues watching the games on youtube recently and they have been perfect HD quality.

my parents are 80 years old and have youtube TV, iphones, a dedicated fiber optic cable from one end of the house to the other and have zero issues understanding it.
Well congratulations to them! Do they want a round of applause?

Did they pick it up and automatically understand it? Or did they maybe have to learn it?

Cause you see that's the problem. Older people that aren't tech savvy trying to learn how to navigate these confusing apps. They are asking for help and in everyone of these threads PEOPLE LIKE YOU GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO LET THEM KNOW HOW EASY IT IS INSTEAD OF TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THEIR PROBLEM.

Right, but at some point ESPN, UK or whoever might shut down some of those and then what is your back-up when you go to watch and it's not available? This is one thing I'd rather pay for and I'm a cheap skate, believe me.

One way to do this from an app on your TV:

1. Download ESPN App to your TV
2. Open ESPN App
3. Go to settings in the app and then TV provider info and login using your login and password for YouTubeTV, Spectrum, Hulu, Dish, DirecTV or whatever by following those instructions
4. Once TV provider info has been validated, go back to home screen of the app and find game in Live & Upcoming
5. Click on game
6. You might be presented with a screen that has multiple options for watching the game. Choose the one the mentions SEC+ (NOT ESPN+)
7. If you are asked to sign up for ESPN+ at this point, go back and look for the game that mentions SEC+
8. You MIGHT have to do instructions 5-7 closer to game time such as 5-10 minutes before

You could also do similar instructions using your phone or tablet (with WatchESPN App) or a computer in a browser from: https://www.espn.com/watch/
Once the game is playing on your phone, tablet or computer, you can cast it to your TV if the TV and phone, etc. are connected to the same Wifi Network

Beyond that, look for the game on YouTube and watch a sub-standard broadcast where people may be talking over the action or the picture is shaky.

Last resort - listen to the game on the radio.
Just copying this for visibility.

Point doesn't stand.

Dont pipe up? I'm so scared of the mighty keyboard warrior. Shut up.

Old guy was pissed rightfully so. Others are telling you all that it isn't that simple for everyone and you all keep wasting screen space with your useless comments.

"catching strays" lmfao this is the internet son not the high school hallways nobody thinks your tough.

Another resort. Go out and watch the game at an establishment! That’s what I do 😎

hahah i gotcha. oh i'm a cheap skate as well but i dunno, i guess it's just easy for some to search things out and find them.

I dont need the help. OP does. You don't understand the problem because you haven't encountered it. I have and know the solution. I am simply saying you can't help so just don't say anything.

It is a message board for UK fans. So why not help your fellow UK fans watch the game?
I have encountered it a couple of times if I understand you. I hit the return/back button on the remote then click the game again and it shows different streams available. I click the SEC+ option again and it takes me to the game.

you sound very angry. no they don't need a round of applause from low IQ elderly people. if you shout just a bit harder it may make you smarter....keep shouting.

I agree. It's not that difficult. However, not that long ago, the results you would get - including the ones on YouTube - were filled with pop ads and sometimes stuff you didn't want to see. I've watched some games on YouTube myself and they were OK, but I just think they have a short life before the powers that be shut them down.

You all can laugh and carry on . Label me as too serious or whatever. I think it is extremely rude and honestly a little disgusting how dismissive some of you "fans" are when it comes to helping others. Acting like 80 year olds that grew up in shacks with holes in the floors should know how to navigate technology that wasn't even a speck of a thought in anyone's head when they were born.

Disappointing

I'm typing not shouting? Talk about low IQ ;)

You know I am right though that's why you resort to insults. Here's one for you. Go get a job so you can pay for a subscription. Or just keep acting like you enjoy 240p streams on youtube

right, yea you never know. it seems though there is always someone new streaming them on youtube. but yes, the sites with popups etc etc, just make sure you have a good antivirus that isn't free ; )

[In case it helps anyone, I got an unauthorized message when I logged in via ATT Uverse, which I have, but I got in successfully when I logged in via DirecTV, which is a subcomponent of my ATT Uverse.]

It shouldn't be hard for older folks. Dad is 79 and he figured it out in about 5 minutes. He even told me how to it but I had already set it up. It's not as hard as people think it is. I'm sure they've solved much harder problems before.
