SEC tourney seeding

The SEC Tournament seeding situation if UK wins today appears to be the following:
  • TxA&M wins & Ole Miss wins = 7-seed
  • TxA&M wins & Ole Miss loses = 6-seed
  • TxA&M loses & Ole Miss wins = 6-seed
  • TxA&M loses & Ole Miss loses = 5-seed
I expect A&M wins at LSU and Ole Miss loses at Florida.
That would make us a #6 seed. We'd be in the sub-bracket with the #3 seed which would be Tennessee or Alabama (if they beat Auburn today).

Neither of which I want to see. Beating UT 3 times would be so tough, and Bama would have to have an off night. That's probably the most likely scenario though.

After thinking about it I would rather be the 5.

Play early afternoon Thursday.

Get an easier game early Friday afternoon.

We would have to play Auburn on Sat at noon provided we and they win.

But what if they don’t win?

We would get the 8 or 9 seed.

Beggers can't be choosers at this point.. I'll take anyone anytime at this point. Would be really tough to beat Tennesse for a 3x though.
I think we do match up well with Tennessee. Their bigs aren’t slashers, which is one of our weaknesses. Their guards aren’t physical slasher types and Lanier is a finesse perimeter player which we can guard well. That isn’t to say we would win a third time but we have good answers for their problems. Would to see Tennessee again as compared to Bama, Florida or Auburn

Zeigler does tend to play awful against UK too. So that's always a plus.

SECT doesn’t matter. We will get a quality game that will help our resume, win or lose.

Big Q1 win today sits us firmly on the 3 line.

10-9 vs. Q1. 7-7 vs. Q1A, I believe.

11-10 combined Q1/Q2. No bad losses.

It would take somebody going on a major tear to knock us down off the 3 line. .

I always get a kick out of people saying it’s hard to beat a team 3x. No kidding. The hardest part is winning the first two times.
Yes ... well ... in the 2019 NCAA Regional Final against Auburn, it turned out that the third time was the hardest won to win.
1-19-2019 - UK 82, Auburn 80 - at Auburn
2-23-2019 - UK 80, Auburn 53 - at Rupp Arena
3-31-2019 - Auburn 77, UK 71 (OT) - at Kansas City

I still cry about that game. I was at that final 4, would have been a dream come true to see UK at a final 4.

So I don't see Ole Miss winning at FL so if so we are the 6 seed right?
Apparently.

Missouri, Ole Miss and Kentucky all have the same records. Each team is one and one against the others. None of these teams beat Auburn. Kentucky beat Florida. Therefore, Kentucky is the highest seed.

You throw all three teams in head-to-head. Then you start looking at what they did versus the top seed. Then the second seed and on down.

UK ends up finishing 6th in the SEC despite the injury issues. So, a 6-seed in the Tournament. Better than most prognosticators, right?

That A&M win over Auburn loams large now for Kentucky for those who rooted for Auburn.

We are lower in SEC seeding for sure

We are likely lower in NCAA seeding (or the same but they get region preference before us possibly)

I never understood why some of you rooted for A&M that game.

I would be totally ecstatic with a 6 seed in this years SEC tournament.
I expect to go an a deep SEC tournament run, if we get that 6.

Get ready for the blue mist to descend....

Go Big Blue !

It's already a done deal, runt#69. UK is the 6-seed you wanted.
Edit: No, sorry. UK could still drop to a 7-seed if Ole Miss wins.

It's not out of the realm of possibility we are still seeded above them in the NCAA tournament.
