SEC Network is drunk.

This guy again smdh

What? I didn't "attack" you anywhere, just being funny. As you noticed 90% of the posts in this thread disagree with you. Your logic on this one is flawed. You're gonna need a thicker skin and a sense of humor on this board.

Cant compare UT football to UK basketball.

By wins: UT fooball is ranked the same as UofL basketball....by championships UT football is ranked the same as OKST basketball.

So...apples/oranges. UT football is a solid program...not elite.

The biggest difference in UT and UK's talent on the roster and recruiting in general is UT has a far larger and more fertile in-state base to recruit from.

The point was that it shouldn't take UT to get back on its feet in football, just as it didn't take UK to get back on its feet in basketball coming from the Gillespie debactle. I also said in my post it isn't exactly the same in comparison. It is MUCH MUCH easier to be instantly better in basketball than in football. 5 incoming, talented players could change a program overnight in basketball than in football. You need 2- 3 top 10 to 15 recruiting classes to get an upward swing in football. Finally, I'm assuming that U of L is top eight in wins b/c UT is in football.

It wouldn't actually surprise me if Tennessee has one of the best defenses in the SEC this season. Derek Barnett was the best freshmen defensive end I have seen. Myles Garrett got more hype, but if you actually watch the two Barnett was better and was better against better opponents. They brought in two DTs in the last recruiting class, one of which is freakishly large. I expect UT's offense to be better than it was last year, primarily because the offensive line will be better, but I also expect UK's offense to be better than it was last year, primarily because the offensive line will be better. I look forward to that matchup being more interesting going forward than it has been in my 29 years.

It would absolutely shock me if Tennessee is the best defense in the SEC. Right now UT is about a step ahead of UK in development. If UK would have picked off that pass against UL and won our bowl game which we probably would have done then our record last year would have been exactly the same. UT is still a team that is developing and recruiting well but they are no where near a finished product. In all likelihood UT wins 7 or 8 games.

I actually didn't know UL football was a top 10 basketball team. I have been saying for a while that the UK/UL game has replaced Duke/UNC in importance. I do tend to consider any top 10 program to be elite, but I would agree with you that UK basketball is more comparable to Alabama football.

That said, I think an actual comparison of basketball and football is silly.

UT's defense made enormous strides last season despite having a brand new d-line. Jumped from 60th in total defense to 30th in total defense. Particularly shined in 3rd down defense and have some extraordinary pieces at defensive end, defensive tackle, and corner. The UT defense may not end up being the best in the SEC, but it's going to be the strength of the team in 2015.

I agree with you that UT is about a year ahead of UK in its rebuild. Getting into a bowl game is vital for UK this season. The extra practices that bowl participants get is invaluable to the development of a team.

Both UK and UT will be better this year. The Vols tradition trumps us, but our recruiting, coaching and player development is on a par with them. Are they a step ahead of us? I would say yes. But, it is not a big step. Both teams will soon be more competitive than our rivals believe.
How is your recruiting on par with ours? We've had two top 5 classes and UK has had a 17 and 30th. Are you saying their isn't much difference in 5th to 30th?

UT's defense is gonna be unreal. Best it's been in 10+ years.

Dobbs vs Mizzou and Vandy in the second half of the year was shaky.

These "reports" of improvement are so silly - it's great that either coach speak or a media clown says there is improvement but until you play then no one knows.

How many schools around the country and saying "reports from camp are bad" - people fall for it every year however and then are shocked when play is poor.
3 of our top 4 WR didn't play and neither did Hurd vs Vandy.

Dobbs also has accuracy problems and will never be on an NFL roster. So despite what he brings to the table in palymaking, it's also a very big unknown how he will respond when D coordinators have a full year and a bunch of game tape to game plan for him.
And you will be replacing a 4 year starter at MLB that was the leader of your defense with someone with very little experience. Your defense wasn't as good after he was a used of raping someone as it was before. There will be growing pains from that too
In the 5 games Dobbs started at the end of the year his acc rating was 73.3% done by the SEC. Only 2 other QB's had higher acc rating. I'm not sure where the Dobbs is not very accurate started at, his % is in the 62-63% range.
