SEC / ACC challenge thread

Auburn is the most complete and consistent team in the country right now regardless of the outcome.

Weird that Duke is our only hope to not be the only SEC L. If we are, it’ll be a talking point for the sports media world and podcast and social media jokes for a week or so.

Hard to pull for Duke but with us having a Win over them and them saving us from being the only SEC loser it kinda makes sense to pull for them here

SEC has won 11 games by at least 10 points, 9 games by at least 15 points, 5 games by at least 20, 2 games by at least 25, and 1 game by over 30.

Duke has the ugliest student fans across the SEC/ACC Challenge. They are a 6th man though. I sure wish our students could dominate from baseline to baseline like many of our opponents. Clemson students brought it last night. Ours try, but the location of the Eruption Zone and overflow is not ideal.

Old topic, but it still bothers me.

Funny that nobody caught the scoreboard screw up. Duke got awarded 2 points at the 11:17 mark that they didn’t get. Remember the obvious goal tend when the ball was sitting on the rim and Duke tipped it in? Well, they counted it. Makes all the difference. Auburn would’ve played different if they were only behind by 2-3 rather than 4-5.

They counted that? Omg I’m not shocked.

Auburn is better than Duke.

Pearl is a much better coach than Scheyer.

Play this game on a neutral court and Auburn wins by 10.

Play this in Auburn and they win by 20.

With this game being in Cameron and Auburn being on the road after a tough Maui tournament, Duke has a shot.

Duke was favored by 3.5

The only way it could have counted is if they determined that Auburn touched the ball instead of Duke, but they never said anything about it. I watched it twice.

Nope. We need to win our home games, and win the 50/50 toss up road games and we will be in good shape. If we can steal an UT/Bama/Auburn style road game it would be huge.
That’s why I see some more losses than people want to admit

At first glance, I actually thought that looked possible that one of the Auburn players touched the ball before the Duke player tipped it in. If that was actually the ruling, the TV crew did an absolutely terrible job covering it though. That was a pretty important two points in such a close game.

This is what happened
If you listen closely to the public address announcer when they come back at 9:19 after the time out, you hear them say Auburn first touched it. After that they added 2 points.

That’s because 12-6 or 13-5 may win the SEC. So yes there will be losses
I can easily see 12-6 winning it this year. That’s what I mean, win the home games, steal one on the road you shouldn’t probably and win a couple others and you will be a top seed and have a chance to win it.

We may lose quite a few but it won’t be because we are bad. Lots of teams will drop games everyone will beat up each other but we will be ready for a march.
Robinson has to step up big time as do some of the others. It’s gonna be a bloodbath in the league this year, and I look at Kentucky on the scale
Of bama to scar last year. They will either get insanely hot late and make a run or fizzle out because of fatigue. But either way I’m enjoying this team a lot

I thought Robinson was gonna get going in our game. He hit the first 3. He just needs to get more aggressive and drive a little more.

We got the second best team I’ve seen no joke on their floor. Nobody else has looked close to them IMO outside Duke. Maybe UNC is better but not by much.

Outside observer, you know me, I totally agree. Watched the game with my son and we both agreed nobody was beating Clempson on their floor last night. Sure, UK shoots a little better, maybe you sneak one out but the gym was electric and *the White Charles Barkley controlled the game. Hell, they had a middle aged church league guy score the ball at will, made all the plays. wtf.

Cats are good, bro. I really think Pope is very good and teaches the game the right way (defense and rebounding first, the rest will take care of itself).

Yeah Rebounding is definitely an area we need to improve on for sure. I doubt we keep shooting this bad much longer.

I watched almost all the challenge games and I haven’t seen any ACC team that looked better outside a Duke at least this stage of the year.

Agree. Brownell has the program just how he wants it right now. I think y’all beat the shit out of them at Rupp and probably win comfortably on a neutral floor but that was a tall task to win last night.

As an aside, I’m floored at how good the SEC is right now. Lots of good coaches and most are using NIL to get good rosters.

Gonna be a fun year.

What I saw was that the only 2 games we would have lost was Clemson and Duke who both got absolute gifts from ACC officiating. We blow out every other ACC team even UNC at their place .

Anyone else notice Ayers trying so hard all game to get UNC back into it then towards the end just stopped because they shot so horribly there was just no way to help them? LMAO, damn UNC completely sh*t the bed when it came to landing players for their front court.

It’s not a coincidence that the two teams that lost for the SEC faced the best two opposing crowds. That stuff matters….it subtly persuades the refs to give you calls (especially in the SEC) and the opposing players feed off the energy and play better.
