Scrap the Bahamas trip

Last I checked cal doesn’t coach any of those teams. Cal pushes the hell out of his players. Kyle tucker is a dumb ass moron who is a Louisville beat writer. I don’t care how much he polishes a turd it’s still a turd when he’s done with it. I promise you none of those teams were pushed the way cal pushes his players for a one year push. All of those programs developed their teams over many years. This team at best is two years old. At worst half of it will be new players.

we aren’t talking about minutes in the teens friggin Oscar is a 40 min guy wheeler player most games 37-38 min. Toppin and Fredrick have shown their bodies can’t handle those minutes. Wheeler too. The freshmen and reeves who knows. Again Kyle Tucker cherry picks and never gives reality. It’s obvious he read this and tried to refute with some stuff that doesn’t apply to cal coached teams. I gave you the real. Cal takes 9-10 players and every year guys wear out by March. Happens time and time again.

and no one has said to have a 13 man roster to play everyone. You play those end of bench guys in the Bahamas half the time, play them in the preseason half the time, play them against cupcakes half the time. You want to go to Bahamas to March on 9-10 guys? That’s a major recipe for March failure. Cal has no margin for error. You know Va, Baylor all those teams most of the time lose early right?
I stopped reading at Tucker being a Louisville beat writer. 😂

Better keep them in the Craft Center 100% of the time. They can Uber food in. They can have tutors come to their rooms. No visits from girlfriends. If one gets sick, the season is ruined

Well wasn’t he? Or did he cover UK at the courier journal? I know where he came from.

guys like tucker, Jones they have brought in a new age of division. These sub cults. I think it started with maggard. They all suck bc only brainless people fall for their schtick. You like Kyle tucker so be it. I like uk basketball and don’t care about what some self promoter and propagandist thinks about UK. All these guys are wrong far more than they are right. That means you will get better info from flipping a coin.

It’s senseless to play this thing with 9 scholarship players. Even if we land another it’s insanity to put strain on our players 7 months before the tournament. It’s a recipe for peaking early. If we are going to go into the season light on depth we cannot afford things like starting last season without Fredrick and toppin. The likelihood of injury is high when you don’t max out the roster. It will be nice and team building but could become an albatross come March.

there is zero margin for error with this roster. Last year was thin all year with constant injuries. This year one or two injuries could send the team reeling. A large part of the injury plague that cal has endured since 2013 imo is due to over training. Not just conditioning but also cal runs physically demanding practices even during the season. Any coach who does this is asking for injuries.

the bahamas was great for the 2015 team because we had basically two teams without a massive gap between them. This team i sense trouble already brewing. Fredrick and toppin have proven to be injury prone, wheeler as well. By the time we head to the bahamas that’s it. The roster will be set. A Fredrick injury and bam the season is in peril.

I always believe you play the way you practice which is why it’s important to have a full roster. There have to be opportunities for players at different times to rest. If you have a 10 man team then you’re working the hell out of those 10 men to get 5v5 in practice. If one gets injured it throws off the ability to run ideal practices.

overtraining is one of the biggest threats to high level athletes. If we had a full roster then play it. But with 9-10 guys stay home. Limit the gym times, save it for the regular season. Even then you have to pace yourself. Meaning dialing down practices between games. Sometimes doing light conditioning but limiting actual basketball activities. By running with a lean team cal puts himself in a corner to coach the way he does. The “run”” “go” mentality, pushing players in that way is terrible when you don’t have the horses.

I believe cal is great at getting players to play their ass off and leave it all on the floor. In order to do that though you have to have a maxed out roster. Part or Cals lack of success since 2015 is the teams are thin and he still rides them into the ground. I think of the 2019 team not being able to have pj and Reid together for a long late season stretch. That was a bahamas year and it seemed to wear on the players at least by season end they were injured and gassed. This past season our guards were gassed and injured at the wrong time. If you’re gonna make March runs it starts in November and December. You have to win to get that one seed but when you’re playing cupcakes you have to play deep into the bench. Unfortunately we don’t have that option so it seems this year so do the right thing. Cancel the Bahamas trip. Start light with these guys when they can begin practicing in July. Even though it’s voluntary you make a call to your captain (Oscar) and tell him to go do something fun instead of pushing in July. Sure let them play here and there but probably 50% of what they did last year in the preseason.
Lol what was the point of your rant ? It’s May 2nd. Who said the roster was set?

Not true.

Oscar averaged 32mpg.
Wheeler averaged 31mpg, even dropping the LSU game where he was KO'ed in 4min, he averaged 32mpg.

OP has turned into the biggest pansy crybaby I have ever seen. It’s unreal.

His boyfriend has to be so embarrassed.
Hey tough guy, you like calling people names. Are you willing to put your true identity behind that or are you a keyboard cowboy sissy? Time to man up little boy.

The 10-13 roster spots are no longer for scrubs with NIL in play. Given the money players make at UK its possible to convince an above avg player to join the roster and fight for minutes.

Big tough guy.
Dude, whenever I say something which is rare, my name is behind it. My nickname is my real name. Not trying to be a tough guy. I just think it’s fair for people to know who’ they’re talking to. You’re another one that likes to call people names. Why don’t you “come out” and let the people know who you are since you’re so “brave” behind that keyboard. If you’re scared, say you’re scared. No harm in being scared.
