Pope's team is ranked higher than those of Hurley, Drew, and Calipari. What a great hire.
The only coaching "whiff" you can justify is Hurley. He's damn good. Outside of that, however, no regrets.

I had just gotten myself talked into drew (I’m a big fan of pearl). I mean his wife and kids flew in and toured a high school. Then they got back on the plane and said nah. When have you ever seen a coaches family check out the area and tour a school only to say no? When they walked through LCA I assumed done deal. I was shocked

I would. Hiring Drew would have been signing up for at least 3-5 years of a lateral move. Cal returning would have at least meant he was probably gone after this year.
Drew is a good fit for Baylor and wins enough to appease their fanbase. He won his National Championship there, so he is set to stay there as long as Boheim did for Syracuse if he wants. Kentucky needed an energetic coach who can handle the demands of the job and hiring one of our own in Pope who gets this place and bleeds blue.
I’m not even entirely sure that’s true. How is UCONN’s last national championship winning coach doing? Unemployed?
I just wanted out from under that buyout. I would have been happy with Jeffery Dahmer .
