Recruit’s mom sought payment, complaint says
An FBI wiretap recorded a June conversation between Dawkins and Richardson in which the two discuss a high school basketball player that Richardson was going to pay to come play for the UA, the complaint says.

On June 20, Richardson met with Sood and an undercover FBI agent in New York and accepted a $5,000 cash bribe, according to the complaint. A few weeks later, Dawkins told an undercover agent that Richardson needed another $15,000 to secure the player, who Dawkins identified as a “top point guard in the country,” the complaint says.

On July 20, in a meeting at Sood’s New Jersey office, Richardson collected the $15,000 and told Sood and an undercover agent that the player in question had committed, but his mother was asking for money because “she didn’t know what I was already doing for her son,” the complaint says.

• Jahvon Quinerly is unlikely to play for Arizona, and may not play college ball at all. Quinerly appears to be the player given money from agents through Richardson and if the NCAA finds he took it, Quinerly could be suspended for part or all of his freshman season (though it may be more likely at this point he doesn't play college ball at all, and just plays professionally overseas before joining the 2019 NBA Draft).

How do we know it's Quinerly? The document reported that Richardson took a total of $20,000 in bribes and gave most of it to a "top point guard" who committed “around three days” before Aug. 11. Quinerly, a five-star point guard, announced on ESPNU on Aug. 8 that he would play for to Arizona.

Another unusual thing about Zona's recruiting the last few years is they have been loading up on early commits. Remember how Lonnie Walker was a huge lean to Arizona and everyone on here was like - what is the appeal of Arizona - a team loaded with wings - to a kid from Pennsylvania? Then next thing you know he commits to Miami.

Always thought the Miami commitment was odd, but was met with backlash of they've been recruiting him for 4 years. Be interesting to see who the Miami recruit who took cash was

This thing today is going to put people in jail, no telling when the NCAA will even get access to the evidence. Racketeering, tax evasion, pretty bad stuff.
RICO act
"Passed in 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) is a federal law designed to combat organized crime in the United States. It allows prosecution and civil penalties for racketeering activity performed as part of an ongoing criminal enterprise.
"Racketeering, often associated with organized crime, is the act of offering of a dishonest service (a "racket") to solve a problem that wouldn't otherwise exist without the enterprise offering the service. Racketeering as defined by the RICO act includes a list of 35 crimes."

Quinerly will never play a game in college clearly. It sucks for some of these kids when their parents take money from agencies and shoe companies. Not saying he didn't know but some parents want to get theirs.

Yep. These kids know nothing. When I was 18? Put me in this situation? No chance. I was dumb. It's impossible and unfair. It's 18 year olds against grown ass men that have been perfecting their "craft"
for years, even decades in some instances. Zero chance.

INTERESTING.......
https://basketballrecruiting.rivals...-scandal-impact-programs-involved-in-charges-

"In addition to that, Arizona is now without the services of a key recruiter and face multiple questions about the inner workings of their program. When you are trying to recruit players like 2018’s top player
R.J. Barrett
who was on campus over the weekend -- and other five-star prospects like
Nassir Little
Bol Bol
Simisola Shittu (? A reason Cal never offered ?)
and several others, news like this is going to have a negative impact."

From the interwebs, Brad Augustine was also charged:

"Player-11 is likely five-star center Balsa Koprivica, ranked #9 in the 2019 class. He plays for Brad Augustine’s AAU team, 1 Family, which is sponsored by — you guessed it — Adidas.

Louisville currently leads Koprivica’s 247 Sports Crystal Ball with 91% of the predictions."

Interesting. Cal was supposed to visit him last weekend but didn’t end up making the trip.

seen Little and Shiitu mentioned several times during this investigation.Do y'all think that they have forfeited their eligibility?

From the Shittu (LOL) videos, I initially didn't understand why Cal wasn't receptive to him as a prospect. It seems like Cal has this knack to veer away from these questionable situations with recruits.

Anyone else cracking up that these reports are basically like:

"Without saying names, he's a 6' 11" with Slavic descent from Albany.. that's Albany, Georgia not Albany, NY.. #7th player in the 2019 class, blond hair and a birthmark on his left cheek.. we'd like these players to remain as anonymous as possible, so please refrain from using his hyphenated last name"

Could it be that Coach Cal backs off when the issue of money is put on the table? GO CATS!!

Man Quiverly is hardly worthy paying anything for. Bowen way way way overpriced, Quvierly too. Some seriouls desperation out there.

It would have to be one heck of a conversation when you are talking to a kid about going to your school and one of the parents or handlers just breaks and says his commitment is going to cost $100K.

I have zero inside info but Walker taking money makes a looooot of sense. His momentum went back & forth between Nova, us, & Zona. Miami wasn’t even mentioned until the day he committed. Seems strangely similar to Bowen & Louisville.
I can't help but think Bol is ours to lose now.
I agree. Matt Jones said a week or 2 ago on a Periscope that we were in better shape with Bol than people thought. I don’t think he knew anything at the time but I’d say USC & Zona look pretty unlikely now.

When I asked how Arizona got these recruits people blasted me about Miller this and Miller that. He's a great coach blah blah blah. Cheater just like UL.

Exactly. I'm sure Shareef is clean, because there's no amount of money they could offer that would be worth taking the risk when Shaq is your dad. But the staff and everyone else is so grimey looking, there's no way it's worth going there when they may not even be able to do something like the NCAA tournament. Come to UK, another good school you already like, who's better anyway in both fans AND existing talent to be winners, while also having Coach Payne there as a family friend. It's a match made in heaven with no, theoretically, no competition. It couldn't be more perfect for him now than ever. I have to almost consider this done like Quickley.

By the end of this only two teams are going to be able to put a title capable team together.

Uk and Duke.
How could duke not be involved ? Bagley went to a school for a year that the ncaa doesn't recognize, so that year doesn't count. How in the hell does he complete 2 years school work in 3 weeks and be eligible immediately to play at duke ? ncaa needs to be brought into this as well.

Some have wondered if the NCAA was not involved with some of the players like Bagley. Got the OK to play very fast from the NCAA. Makes you wonder.

I agree. And Duval too. The timing is bizarre.

Don't forget either, coach K's "OAD" approach started around '14. That's when he began taking multiple per year, including top kids that were locks for U.K. After '12. That's around the time some of these others started and the FBI became involved.

K is dirty in this but he's protected.
