Say we get Brown, what is Cal's rotation?

@CatPhight Would Malone, Long, and Floreal also each average 2 MPG on this years team like they did last season?

Wait no...according to you, their minutes will go UP this year.

Come on now, this is too easy.

Well since Long, Malone and Lanter graduated, I guess they don't see any minutes on your Xbox. Floreal will probably average about the 1.5 mpg he did last year in the real world.

Hell, you don't even know who's still here do you?

I said WOULD THEY (Meaning assuming they were still on the team, it's called context).

As I put in a subsequent post (big word, I know, look it up), we'll have Floreal and that new walk on we added yesterday, and probably at least 1 more.

Why not factor that in?

I'll wait...

Soooo if this was just an honest MPG discussion, why didn't you include Floreal and our new walk we added yesterday into the mix?

I mean, Lanter, Malone, and Long all "got minutes" last year...why wouldn't you include them??

Oh, maybe because this is a REALISTIC discussion on who we ACTUALLY THINK IS GOING TO PLAY.

Cal said he's only playing 8 guys, so I'm choosing to divide the minutes between 8 guys.

If you want to include Willis, Hawkins, and the walk-ons in there too, be my guest, but we both know mine was more accurate of what we're ACTUALLY going to see in meaningful games.

You mean the starting 5 where you copied and pasted mine and changed a minute from Poy to Brown and then said you would take minutes from Hawk and give to Lee?

Then doubled down in your next post (have since weaseled out because you didn't know what MPG was) of your 0.0 comment for Hawk and Willis and tripling Lee's minutes?

That one?

It wasn't called context until you were proven wrong. Just like Lil Brother. If that was the case, AGAIN, where is your list of minutes - you can copy and paste mine again and then do your futile shuffle.

First you argue that 6, 7 or 8 minutes is in the rotation - now it's mop up - make up your mind flip-flop...do you read what you write?

I'll wait...

Do we really think Lee could give us 20-25 effective mins each night?

I mean that might be what has to happen, I'm just wondering what others feel.

I mean, i have seen Lee go from mop up mins to the best player on the floor. It is really up to Lee if he can get 20-25 mins. There is a huge gap at backup PF and Center so either Lee takes it or you give more mins to Brown at the 4 and more mins to Ulis, Briscoe, Mulder, and Matthews.

I think next year, Lee's productivity can out produce giving more mins to Mulder and Matthews ergo i think it is the safest best.

Ulis (1)
Briscoe (2/1)
Brown (3)
Poythress (4)
Labissiere (5)

Mulder (3/2)
Lee (4/5)
Matthews (3/2)
Hawkins (1/2)
Willis (3/4)

just to illustrate the position each player would spend more of their time playing.

Looking at that potential rotation makes me all tingly.

Assuming we get Brown, my guess is like this:

Ulis - 30
Briscoe - 28
Brown - 30
Poythress - 26
Labisiere - 30

Lee - 22
Matthews - 13
Mulder - 13
Hawkins - 4
Willis - 4

I haven’t seen Charles Matthews play yet, but from what I hear, he is a 6'5 Liggins.g

Evan Daniels comparison of Matthews to Liggins was way off. Matthews is not, nor will he ever be, a point guard. He will not be relied upon to play point guard duties during any of his time in Lexington (unless there is just a massive number of guys in foul trouble and he's the only option), of this I am certain of. Liggins was a 6-6 point guard with a little athleticism, some upside, was a lock-down defender, but was a terrible shooter in high school. Matthews is a 6-5 shooting guard/small forward with tons of athleticism, can slash and finish and can shoot (averaged better than 47% from the field and 22 ppg for his senior year). A much better comparison for Matthews in my opinion is Evan Turner (similar games and body type with Turner being about an inch taller, Matthews is the better finisher, but Turner had a better motor), or as another poster mentioned in a different thread, a "slightly" less talented Derek Anderson (size and athleticism are the same, but Anderson was a little flashier and was a bit better shooter coming out of Doss HS).

Totally agree - Matthews is way better than advertised and I'm stunned some of our own <cough> fans have been selling this kid short.

If we don't land Brown or Murray, IMO Matthews will be called on to step in at the 3 spot - he's 6' 5" and is long plus he has good ball handling skills and is a SCORER!

Ulis ,Mulder,Brown,Poythress,Labisiere my starting 5 if we get Brown

Cal has, historically, only played about 7 or 8 guys the majority of minutes. If we land Brown, that gives us 10 guys that could legitimately see PT next season.

The starting lineup would, of course, most likely be Ulis, Briscoe, Brown, Poythress, and Labissierre. That leaves Lee, Matthews, Mulder, Willis, and Hawkins on the bench.

My guess is that Lee and Mulder come in as the #6 and #7 guys off the bench, then either Willis or Matthews will end up being the 8th guy off the bench (my guess is that it'll be Willis). That would leave Matthews and Hawkins as our 9th and 10th guys.

Of course, if we don't manage to get Brown, that would shake things up drastically I think. I think that not landing Brown would mean Matthews goes from being our 9th guy to a starter (as crazy as that sounds). I really think that the starting lineup would then be Ulis, Briscoe, Matthews, Poythress, and Labissierre with Lee, Mulder, and Willis maintianing the #6-#8 spots.

What do you guys think?

Clockwise at a speed of sixty seconds per minute.:)
