Great player at Creighton, one basket away from the Final Four, and a top 5 team pre-season for next year. Entrenched starter. No objective reason in the world to transfer. And he just entered the portal. I don’t have a problem with the idea of the portal — we can all change our jobs whenever we get a better offer (and we usually do, for the benefit of our families), the coaches leave whenever it is best for them, etc. Players should have the option of being in a place that makes them the best version of themselves. I’m all for one free transfer. But the portal, combined with NIL, has resulted in decisions I can’t begin to fathom.
