Rupp Arena: can we tear it down already?

This thread has at least two obvious fakes/trolls continuing the discussion.

Why not just start a thread titled, "Is Cal on hot seat if no title this year?" Go big if you're going to do it.

Just a few random comments. I was at the Alabama game. It was "electric" only because UK fans had about 25% of the seats. The Alabama crowd was only loud at tipoff and when they scored the first 7-9 points in the second half. The rest of the game "Go Big Blue" drowned them out.

When I can get to Rupp, which is rare since I live in Nashville, I go to enjoy the show - which is the team and the game - not to be the show by jumping around and screaming the entire time.

If anyone doesn't like Rupp and wants to stop going, please let me know how I can buy your season tickets.

OP!

Two problems you got, brother:
Penis envy victim (also known as YUM Center Personality Disorder)Ignorance of history (why Rupp is built like it is--to hold Kentuckian fannies and families from every place in the Commonwealth, not just a liquored-up basketball palace for egotistical big-shots who live in Louisville)

Let's lay the blame of this where it lies...THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE AND TOM JURICH ,SOME OF HIS CROOKED CRONIES...OF WHICH JIM HOST A UK ALUM IS ONE , RAPED THE STATE AND THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE OVER THE CHICKEN BUCKET...!!!!...The state is determined this will not happen again because when the dust all settles , ul will own the chicken bucket for pennies on the dollar...A bunch of folks should be in jail over this

If they want to build a new arena.
I would rather have them just have them make an on campus 55-60k capacity dome facility.
CWS is moving to artificial turf and at 55-60k you maybe able to be a Final Four host.

The majority of major D-1 teams practice in their practice facilities.

Non factor.

I really don't care at this point. That happens when you live over 1,000 miles away, but I never really liked Rupp. I loved MC. The acoustics in Rupp are terrible. A lot of the sound just disappears in to all that space. I also thought it was built primarily for one reason. To hold as many people as possible with not nearly as much thought being given to making it a good space, and the comfort of the people in the seats. It could have been better, and it sure could be now. I like the 15-18,000 seat arena's, especially those with all the 21st century amenities. They keep more of the sound at the court level, and provide a much better "homey" feel to them than the gigantic, space laden Rupp arena. JMHO of course.

I AGREE with the OP and Cal on this one. Rupp is shit and outdated. TIme to wreck that dump. Old people are the only ones wanting to keep it.

In this thread: bunch of fan-boy hive mind responses putting words in OP's mouth while taking the stance that Rupp Arena is beyond reproach.

Face it folks, it's an outdated venue with shitty sight lines and terrible acoustics.

Yall can be mad at the OP all you want. But he speaks the truth. It's the quietest gym in America. Time to ge the old farts out and more students in. Fans at Alabama were louder.
Just in the past seven days I watched Duke and UL take a beating on their home courts. It was so quiet in Cameron and the Yum that the fans might as well have not been there.

And, having been to most of the games this year, the rupp crowd is good but not great. As discussed many times before, it only seems quiet on TV, meaning that people that come into these threads and complain about the crowd generally have never been to the game.
This is the truth of the matter. Just watch the other games on TV, doesn't matter the conference if you find a game half full then it's a big game. Kansas, unc, ucla all have quiet small crowds at some games. Not like it was 20 years ago, TV owns it, except for the Cats and a few others. Why the hell do you think UK leads attendance Year after Year even with Syracuse having a football stadium for games. You clowns complaining have probably never been to Rupp and sure as Hell never been in Memorial. Grow up!

I'm sorry but this has to be the dumbest post I've seen here and there has been some doozies. Lets tear down the Statue of Liberty, I mean Gawd that thing is old!

The depth of shallowness is mind boggling. Yeah that's right. Deep shallowness.
